Coca-cola Freestyle Cups

There was a freestyle every where. Even when we were going to eat at a restaurant we would fill up and take it in with us with no problem. My friend did run into a small problem when she filled it up and took a taste it was flat. She dumped it and tried to refill but the machine she had to wait a certain time limit before she could refill. A team member helped fill it up for her. You can also get water for free.

If we go with a Freestyle cup are the lines usually long? I am thinking of doing the meal plan on our first day with the Freestyle cup (so around $27) and that includes a CS meal and snack along with the refillable drinks. My DH is concerned that the lines to fill-up are going to be crazy long or complicated as people try and work out how they work and take their time choosing their flavour mixes!

We are there August 6 & 7 so the parks are going to be crazy busy but please - what do you recommend, Freestyle cup or lining up with a red refillable cup?

Thanks!

Freestyle - hands down. Way more cost effective (you have to pay per refill with the red cups) and a million more choices. The lines are usually maybe 5 people max and that is in summer.

Thanks, I appreciate the information. I knew it would be better on cost to go down the Freestyle route but was finding hard to find information to convince DH that the lines won't be worse at the freestyle compared to the refillable red!

We have just recently got the Freestyle machines in our McDonalds in Canada and the look of confusion on peoples faces as they try and get their drinks is what he was dreading!

Cost effectiveness between the 2 types of cups depends on how much you drink and how often you visit. I'm still using my red cup I purchased in 2008 and there are several people who have red cups that are older than that. My cup actually has a handle on it. It's that old. I normally only get 2 or 3 drinks a day at the parks. So, after the initial investment I'm spending $2-$3 a day on drinks. Extra days on the Freestyle cups (while the chip lasts) are $6.00 a day. So, excluding the cost of the cup, the break even would be 6 refills a day. There is of course the extra variety in the Freestyle machines that adds some value to it.

On my last trip, I got the Sonic Fill cup at Cabana Bay and used the Freestyle machines there for the variety. Then used my red cup in the park.

As we are going Aug 6 & 7 I am thinking its going to be really hot and so multiple drinks will be drunk. I did that math and thought we would probably drink more than 6. That said we had the red cups in 2012 but due to a 'packing' problem or should I say an over purchasing problem we were not able to fit them in our suitcases so had to leave them behind!

Are the freestyle machines available at onsite resorts or just the parks?

Cbay and the parks have the freestyle machines.

Mac is correct but you cannot use your park freestyle cups at CB and CB cups cannot be used in the park.

We have the red cup for many years and use that. We might have a few sodas in the park but we use the freestyle more for ice cold filtered water. Too much soda in the heat is bad.

Is there any deals for the more cups you buy? We are a party of 8 and whilst I don't think we will be getting that many we may end up with at least 6 (4 teens that won't to share!)

If there are deals can you tell me if they are for the freestyle cups as well as the red ones?

They offer a price break at 2 and 3 freestyle cups. Not sure the pricing as I have never bought them. I don't think the red cups have a price break. We have multiple red cups that we have used for years. Sorry I can't give you actual figures. I want to say the freestyles go down to 9.99 each when you buy 3.

What is the cost of one cup? I drink a lot of water all day and with three of us I am thinking at least one cup would be a good deal. I would much rather get water from the freestyle machine than from a water fountain.

Bring your own water bottle/cup then. Water and ice are free from the freestyle machines from everything I have read. If you want soda then you need to purchase a cup or add a day to a cup you already purchased.

Oh! Will the freestyle machines work with my own bottle? For some reason, I got the idea that it wouldn't work without a chip. I still want to buy a cup, in case I need a caffeine boost! Plus, I plan on sharing it with hubby and daughter. they won't want water all day.

The water and ice are free and any cup/bottle that fits in the window will be OK to use.

Just ask a counter person for a plastic water cup and go fill up at the machine. The water is ice cold filtered with out ice even needed. We do this and we don't have to carry anything.

Wait, can you only use the Freestyle things if you but a reusable cup? They have a few at Wonderland here at home, but you can just purchase a regular paper cup-full if you want (though it's nearly $5).

The cups have a programable rfid chip in the bottom of the cup. If the cup is not present it will tell you it's not there and won't let you select anything besides water.

Yes, coke freestyle machines are all over the place at fast food joints here in south Florida but they don't require a chipped cup.

Ew. That seems a little "take you for all your worth", but I guess it is an extra thing. Anyone have an estimate on the cup prices? The one at home worked out to be about 3 refills before you broke even and it's a much smaller park than Universal in a far less humid environment.

I think it's $12.99 a day and $6 per day add on.

Personally I would drink the free water with the heat and buy one or two regular sodas at $2.99 a piece, 21oz.
