Cobb salad at Hollywood Brown Derby

Here's a picture of it (without blue cheese, and the dressing is on the side)

We also always order it. Can't have a Cobb anywhere else.
I have the bleu cheese on the side so DH can have mine too.

I love the Cobb salad, and I love the BD in general. I like how finely everything is chopped and mixed. That way you can get all the flavors in the same bite each time.

Here's what it looks like when it comes to the table (this one was minus the avocado and with the chives on the side)

And then your server tosses it with the dressing for you and you get this:

It's an EXCELLENT salad. Looking at these pictures is making me want one---

I love it. they gave us the recipe on a cute little Derby card. DH make it for me about once a year & yes he can chop it that small. In return I make him the Grapefruit cake.

anyways I think it is a love or hate thing.

Wish I could have one for lunch today! DW and I love it as is. This is an accurate reproduction of the original. Always disappointed when we get one at other restaurants that call theirs by the same name. :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I know that I'm in the minority, but I put the Cobb as on the worst things I"ve ever eaten at WDW or anywhere.

I just don't like it chopped to the point of it being pulverized.

It was like baby food.

I agree, the mushy texture is awful.
I do like the Brown Derby though, I think it's the best restaurant in DHS. They make really good crab cakes!

I am also of the opinion the the Cobb Salad at the BD is chopped too much. We used to prefer the Cobb Salad at the Grand Floridian Cafe, but when we were there in September the lettuce underneath all of the other ingredients was chopped beyond recognition and mushy. It looked like something that you scrape off of a lawnmower after you mow the lawn. I expressed my displeasure to our waiter and showed him the glob of green that was in my plate. The chef came out to talk to me and apologized, saying that the assistant who assembled the salad should have caught the fact that the lettuce was beyond redemption. We told the chef that we did not want anything from them, but only wanted to express our disappointment because in the past we had had that salad many times at the GFC and had looked forward to it. We hoped that they could return to their previous version. Even though we made it clear that we didn't want anything they presented us with a dessert sampler to go when we paid our check. I'm not sure where we'll go for our Cobb Salads now.

:rotfl: I agree! We will never order the Cobb there again.

My favorite WDW lunch is the HBD Cobb salad with a champagne flight! :woohoo:

I expected to love it after reading the reviews..(I am not a picky eater at all) However, I was very disapointed. Everything was very chopped up and not to my liking. The Filet Mignon there was one of the best I have ever had..

Ewww! Reading what you wrote and looking at the pictures, I am going to pass on the cobb salad.

I also like the GF Cafe's Cobb salad and the seafood Cobb salad at Fulton's for lunch. I always get them with the dressing on the side though.
