On our flight out, we got to have the enjoyable experience of flying United on the morning they completed the final merger with Continental's reservation system. You'll have to follow my trip report to learn all about the fun that was. But the condensed version is that despite arriving at O'hare a full 2 hours before departure (at 4 AM) there was not enough time to stop for breakfast before heading to the terminal. So I took advantage of this opportunity, and ordered a snack box on the airplane, because I was STARVING!

This is United's Tapas Snack Box. It is $8.50 and according to their Hemispheres magazine, is available on most flights over 2 hours, regardless of time of day.

Thats a mini bottle of Chardonnay and a Bombay Sapphire to have a bloody mary. The Chardonnay wasn't bad, but wasn't the greatest either. I can't comment on the bloody mary, because I need mine to be served up with all the pickled veggies, and the celery salt, and worcetshire and tobascco so I didn't sample. It had Bombay in it, so couldn't have been all bad.

Included in the snack box was a packet of Emerald Almonds, a packet of olives, 4 varieties of crackers, hummus, red pepper bruschetta, and peppercorn parmesan cheese dip. This was a tremendous value for $8.50 and was more than enough for two people to share. It kept us full enough until we could get to Disney for lunch! The olives were surprisingly good considering they came out of a packet. They had great texture and were not packed in oil, just water. I would order this again!

Our very first meal of the trip was the highly anticipated..................................

Earl of Sandwich!! Earl definitely did not disappoint. We had a big dinner planned, and we landed late. It was almost 1PM by the time we got to Earl, and our dinner was at 6, so we just needed something to "get us through." Wow, does this place get BUSY!!

Fabulous sandwiches being created.

A side of coleslaw. This was very nice. Light dressing that is very mild at the start, but does have a vinegary bite that comes back around. Exactly the way I like it.

Adam ordered the grilled chicken caesar wrap. I was a little disappointed that the chicken for this came in a plastic package that was simply dumped out on to the wrap, so chicken is not cooked on site. They did however toss the caesar salad after I ordered. This was ok, but not the best Caesar wrap thats ever been made.

I knew what I was going to have months before we got there...

The Original. This. Is. Amazing. Tender, juicy roast beef. Creamy horseradish. Sharp cheddar cheese. Bread that is magically crunchy on the outside, as well as where it was split in the middle, but somehow still soft on the inside. So, so, so SOOOOOOOOOOO good! My only regret is we didn't have time (or stomach space) to go back later in the week.

This was a GREAT way to start off our trip. If you're on the fence about going to Earl's, GO! I promise you won't be sorry you did.

Great start
You can't beat EOS for a great lunchtime snack on arrival day :cloud9:
