Coachman popup

I just found a 1999 Coachman popup for sale for $2K. It has a queen bed, king bed, dinette slide out with bed, and a sofa bed. There is an inside potty and an outside shower (great for hosing down muddy kids). The ad states that there are a couple of minor tears in the canvas. It has an electric winch to raise it. I have emailed him asking for more details.

Does anyone know about this brand of popup? How easy is it to repair canvas? They also said a zipper was broken but there was also velcro there to use instead. I will use the solar blankets on the bed ends, so minor repairs to canvas should not pose too big of a deal.

I also found a 1993 Coleman popup for $1500, but it is much smaller.

The Coachman is 2.5 hours away, the Coleman is right around the corner. Of course, I am not even sure if either is available still.

I would immediately replace the mattresses with memory foam, so i don't really care about their condition. My mom also used to own an upholstery shop, so that is not a big deal either.

It sounds like a keeper girl....I have 2 very small rips in my canvas....being the redneck that I am....I used clear duct tape on the inside and outside and havent had a single problem with them....clear duct tape aint exactly clear...but it blends well enough, and it has not let in a drop of water so far! That slide out makes a big difference. Gina & I were laughing this weekend because we have to take turns moving around in our little popup!!! And 2k is less than I paid for mine, NO slide out, no shower/potty, and only a full and king bed. My crappy opinion? GET IT GIRL!!!

I think I'd be jealous as all get out! Seriously, I'd go look at the one closest to you and if it meets your approval, get it. If not, drive the extra distance to check out the other one. I hope it works out for you!!!

What would we rednecks do without our duct/duck tape? Last week, the sweeper part on my vacuum cleaner broke and it was going to cost $30 to replace it. $1 roll of duck tape made that thing better than new. Now the sweeper looks like the rest of the things in my house.

It has a potty? Inside? Grab it those are hard to come by in a pop up I don't know lots 'bout canvas repair, but others have said that is doable- so the inside potty would sell me ( we camped for years, but always with the hardsided type of trailer- we needed that "potty" lol).

I haven't heard back from the guy with the coachman. That is the one that I really want. Newer, slide out, potty, outside shower and only $500 more. If I haven't heard from him in the morning, I am calling the Coleman guy.

Thanks for Rog about the tears. I have duct tape in many colors. I never knew they made clear. Learn something new everyday. LOL I may be able to find some the color of the canvas.

Biting my fingernails hoping I don't lose them both.

Just make darn sure you check for water rot in the roof, flooring, side body, and under the cabinets. Small little pop-up's can become money pit's in no time. If there's water damage - walk away no matter how good the price is. Also - on the unit with the electric lift - make sure the owner demonstrates how and if it works.

There are a lot of deals out there on used pop-up's - but there's also a lot of crap. Be very discerning and go over any unit with a fine-toothed comb. Be patient & you will find the perfect pop-up!

As for the Coachman popup, it was already sold. I have decided not to even inquire about the smaller one. I want to wait and get exactly what I want. I have time. Besides, the smaller ones are aggravating to tow with all that bouncing around. A little more weight means less gas mileage, but easier to tow.

Well, after a lot of thinking, I have decided not to get a popup right now. Between insurance and storage fees, it will be $100/month that I can save towards disney. Plus, I would have to worry about maintenance on top of everything. With everything on my plate right now and being a single mom, just don't want to get in over my head.

We love tent camping, so will stick with that. I do have a few questions and such that I will be posting soon.

Plus, I would have to worry about maintenance on top of everything. With everything on my plate right now and being a single mom, just don't want to get in over my head.

I check Craigslist no less than 6 times a day! I've actually looked at several units I've found there, but nothing has "been the one" yet. We just cut our income almost in half, so I'll probably not be looking for anything but a tent at Wal-Mart for some time. I'm okay with that.

I will be camping in a tent. I considered Port Orleans, but there is no place like the FORT.

I don't know where I got SOG. Sorry! Now that we've experienced the Fort, I doubt we'll ever stay anywhere else.

Tent camping is a one of a kind thrill...I love it. Im too old and fat to do it, but I still love it...it almost feels like a victory at the end of each tenting vacation.

Liv, I may have mentioned SOG at one point as it was on my radar. Oh, and Ozark Trail at WM is a good brand. I have had a couple of them. The first one was great until attacked by Hitchcockish birds and we repaired the screen, but then it was taken out by Katrina, no hope there. This one is great. I waterproofed and seam sealed per Carol and nary a drop of water inside. It has the tub floor which is a requirement for me. I love Coleman as well. This is the tent I now have. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-Trail-Family-Dome-Tent/10986132 I can fit 2 twin mattresses, one full, and a camping mat in this one with room for gear. You could fit 2 twin on one side and a king or queen on the other.

Rog, yes it is, and when I am done, I am gone have the Taj Mahal of tent setups. LOL
