Coach purses verses Michael Kors

I have an old Coach leather bag that I love. It's beautifully made, stays in great condition no matter what I put it through, and seems to get prettier every year. It is heavy, though. The new ones just don't seem to have that I'll keep this forever quality AND I don't like them that much in the "love me right now" sense.

I have two Michael Kors bags and they are both great. I can't walk through a store without seeing an MK bag that I covet and I'm not even really a purse person. I don't think they are built for the long haul but they do seem to be having a long moment (assuming I don't win the lottery and with it the ability to purchase the Gucci bag that I truly covet). I don't know how long they wear and that concerns me a little bit. I use a Kate Spate tote as my everyday bag and so the MK bags aren't out but a few times a month but still have some signs of wear.

Coach girl here. Love their leather and fabric purses. And I've had the same coach wallet for 10 years and it is still going strong.

To be fair, never had an MK bag. Have Longchamp, Burberry, and my favorite Gucci. Love that bag but it's a huge splurge.

Could you tell me to buy Longchamp? I just looked at the website and LOVE the styles. Never heard of the brand before. Thank you!

I'm a coach wristlet girl - new one every two years. I sent one in to have the zipper fixed. I only get leather, with no emblems.

The color is a beautiful coral, and it can be used as a wristlet or with a full strap.

It's a one year warranty, when it used to be lifetime. They're probably going to insist on seeing a receipt. They do take repairs in the store (I was wrong about that) but outlet merchandise apparently has to be shipped directly. I'm pretty sure that older items still have the lifetime warranty, and the should be able to figure that out by the product number.

Longchamp is a very nice brand. Quality product. My best friend owns several and raves about them. The Longchamp I own is bigger than my normal everyday bag, but when I do use it I've always been pleased.

Longchamp is French. They're more in the Gucci to LV price range.

Sounds interesting. However, I'm guessing there's no lifetime warranty now. I actually bought my mom one of the City bags years ago. I got it at a Coach Factory store in Santa Barbara. It wasn't at an outlet mall but in an upscale shopping district on State Street. It was cheap too - maybe $120. I looked through an entire table of them. This was at about the time they were starting to offshore production. I picked out one that was American made. It really didn't look or feel any different. I think the traditional "baseball glove" style leather they use is still tanned in the US. It was still kind of nice to have one that was American made, and I thought that maybe it would have decent resale value if my mom ever wanted to sell it.

I've bought a few Coach items for myself over the years. I've got an iPad case, although the plastic shell has cracked and the corners have been scraped due to a few drops; however it did sacrifice itself to prevent the iPad from suffering worse damage. I ended up with a few belts, a passport case, and other stuff.

As for the other stuff like shoes, clothing, and watches - that's really just a side business. I don't believe they ever made that stuff themselves, even when they didn't offshore. That was always made by a subcontractor. I had a pair of men's lamb skin gloves, and those were made in Italy. The watches are made for them by the Movado Group. I've seen them at Movado stores.

I have a couple of longchamp that I like. Good quality. I don't use it as my everyday bag like my coach one and the other one is much larger than an everyday bag.

BUT the coach store near us closed just recently. MK moved across the hall from them maybe a year ago.
