I'm wondering how much cheaper a Coach purse is at the outlet store? Do they average like $100? I'd like a bigger one, they are usually $350 normal for the size I want.

From what I've seen, the prices range from around $100 to in the $300s. But, I've seen some great deals, and they usually give you a 25 percent off coupon when you walk in.

Watch for the sales you can get a great deal around holidays. I usually buy my bags there because I get a great deal and I prefer leather. I have paid under $200 for a full leather large bag (lg. tote)

Most of the bags at the outlet are made only for the outlet (ones you wouldn't normally find at a boutique store, etc.), so deals can be found. They do offer 20% coupons a lot (just by walking in).

It all depends on if you want "current" bags or are OK with shopping the Clearance section.

I have bought 3 for my wife and if I remember correctly all three of them were under $100 each. If they were over $100 it wasn't by much - I'm pretty cheap - especially when it comes to high end accessory purchases. just not something I'm fond of spending hard earned $$$ on them - BUT here is my story.

My DMIL kept buying cheap knock offs for my DW - the seams would fray - the zippers would break - etc etc - so I got tired of having a purse graveyard in the closet - so I bought her a real Coach bag - and haven't looked back.

YES, they are expensive - BUT they really last, they don't get filthy like most purses, and their traditional lines are pretty timeless - so while I hate to spend that much money on a purse, they are worth the price as long as you can get them on clearance. 50% off retail and then an additional 20-25% via coupon.

All of this is coming from a practical - common sense - penny wise husband LOL

If you go on a 20% coupon day you can get large bags for less than $200. Otherwise they are in the 200 to 250 range. If you find something in the back, you can get a great deal, last year I got a bag that normally retails for $300 for $80!

This past Sunday I got a bag that was originally $458 for $189. They styles that they sell are definitely last year/season but you can find some awesome deals there.

I went in the store one day in Feb and they handed me a 20% coupon off anything in the store. I found a leather purse I loved (lg bucket style). it was marked $495 on sale for 365. They had a 50% sign in front of the selection which made it $182.50. then 20% off that to equal $146.00 I thought that was a great deal since it retailed at $500.00:banana:

I just bought a bag marked $448 for $178 last month...without a coupon- it was the sale price.

I'll be sharing this post with my DH who would rather be dead then caught in a Coach store!

Here's the problem with that. When you go to the Coach store in a regular mall they have a price they want to sell it at, $500 for example. They try to sell it for that price and if they can't they mark it down. So let's say they mark it down to $250 and you buy it. You saved yourself $250.

In the outlet store they make their purses specifically for that store. So they can put any price they want on it then mark it down to what they think you will pay. They put a $500 price tag on a purse, knock 50% off then give you a coupon for another 20%. How much did you save? Nothing, you are paying them exactly what they wanted to get for the purse in the first place.
Outlet stores started out years ago as a place to get rid of unwanted and damaged merchandise. Now they are nothing more than a marketing gimmick.

not entirely true...here in MA if it doesn't sell in the regular store, they send it to the outlet. I can't tell you how many purses I have bought in the regular store only to see them in the outlet a couple months later.

I agree MOST of the outlet stuff is made for the outlet..thats why they call it a factory store now.

.

Not all outlet items at Coach are made specifically for the outlet. I saw the bag I wanted at Macy's but couldn't justify $350 for it. I went online and started searching to find it cheaper. While I was searching I saw a similar bag at other online stores and at the coach online store - all of the stores marked that style as discontinued - including Coach - and were offering the discontinued similar style for 20% off - $260. But while Coach and a couple of other stores showed the style I wanted the online availability was reduced to limited colors (I think purple and green) and didn't include the colors I wanted (black or brown). Since the outlet is right in my town I went to the outlet store to see if they had something I liked and they had the discontinued bag I saw online in black - and they were holding an inventory clearance sale - I got the bag for $134 :cool1: . So while this is true for some brands for Coach not everything is made specifically for the outlet.

I got a great classic bag there in July. I believe it was a bag that was NOT made for the outlets. The original price was I believe $300 and it was on sale 50% and I got a 20% coupon walking in. The final total was something like $115. It's a great bag...soft pebbled leather. I believe it's from the Ergo line of bags. I'm keeping it for years.

While this may be true (you can also find discontinued Coach purses at discount stores like TJ Maxx) 1) The number of "real" purses in any outlet store is tiny compared to the total inventory, and 2) Most customers don't take the time to know the difference between the regular store bags and the outlet ones. Coach doesn't educate their customers and they don't have any signs in the store noting that the bags are not the same quality as the ones you will find in the mall. It's not like Chaps or Armani Exchange, which are marketed as less expensive alternatives to the main designer labels. They are basically selling knockoffs of their own bags, something that would get you or me in legal trouble.

I agree with those who have said not all purses are made specifically for the store. I have bought bags that I saw in dept stores or an actual Coach store in the mall at the outlet/factory store. Even if they do make some of these purses specifically for the outlet/factory store, the quality is still great and I've never had an issue with any of the bags I've bought.

I have gotten some fabulous deals on Coach bags. I have a red one that I bought while on a trip to California at a factory store and I have yet to see anyone with one like it. I paid about $100 for it and I get tons of comments on it and questions about where I found it. Other gals just LOVE  this red Coach purse I have because they want it! I can't wait to add to my collection.

If you ask they will tell you which are from the retail store. In our local outlet it used to be 50/50 now it's more like 25% real 75% factory. Happy Shopping.

The last time that I was in our Coach outlet store, the clerk helping us told us that quite often the time difference between the mall and their store is only a couple of days. The turnover is fast, and they come from their regular stores, not just made for the outlet. A little to much cynicism from those who paid too much. Love my bags, never paid over $100 for them, and have had tons of compliments on them.

I really don't care if my bag is made for the Outlet or for the stores. Every bag I have purchased at the Coach Outlet has been great quality and has still been in perfect shape when I grew tired of the bag. Most of mine have been $120-150 after all discounts.

I worked for Coach so when I go to the outlet I can easily tell if its made for factory or a delete
