It all depends on if you want "current" bags or are OK with shopping the Clearance section.
I have bought 3 for my wife and if I remember correctly all three of them were under $100 each. If they were over $100 it wasn't by much - I'm pretty cheap - especially when it comes to high end accessory purchases. just not something I'm fond of spending hard earned $$$ on them - BUT here is my story.
My DMIL kept buying cheap knock offs for my DW - the seams would fray - the zippers would break - etc etc - so I got tired of having a purse graveyard in the closet - so I bought her a real Coach bag - and haven't looked back.
YES, they are expensive - BUT they really last, they don't get filthy like most purses, and their traditional lines are pretty timeless - so while I hate to spend that much money on a purse, they are worth the price as long as you can get them on clearance. 50% off retail and then an additional 20-25% via coupon.
All of this is coming from a practical - common sense - penny wise husband LOL
I went in the store one day in Feb and they handed me a 20% coupon off anything in the store. I found a leather purse I loved (lg bucket style). it was marked $495 on sale for 365. They had a 50% sign in front of the selection which made it $182.50. then 20% off that to equal $146.00 I thought that was a great deal since it retailed at $500.00![]()
Here's the problem with that. When you go to the Coach store in a regular mall they have a price they want to sell it at, $500 for example. They try to sell it for that price and if they can't they mark it down. So let's say they mark it down to $250 and you buy it. You saved yourself $250.
In the outlet store they make their purses specifically for that store. So they can put any price they want on it then mark it down to what they think you will pay. They put a $500 price tag on a purse, knock 50% off then give you a coupon for another 20%. How much did you save? Nothing, you are paying them exactly what they wanted to get for the purse in the first place.
Outlet stores started out years ago as a place to get rid of unwanted and damaged merchandise. Now they are nothing more than a marketing gimmick.

not entirely true...here in MA if it doesn't sell in the regular store, they send it to the outlet.
Not all outlet items at Coach are made specifically for the outlet.
