Co-workers and errands at lunchtime - Update pg 2

I had a co-worker like that. "Get me this, get me that". I just used to say, "are your hands painted on?" :teeth:

Unreal...today I realized it was 1:55 so I ran next store to the Deli near my building to get a sandwich and my co-worker actually "yelled" at me for not getting her anything nor asking. She actually told me in front of my other co-workers how could I go and not ask her if she wanted anything.....I was speechless.
Smile and walk away...........or mention that you didn't think you have been put on this earth to serve only her.

And......I am really sorry that you have to deal with her behaviour.

wow!

you're right though, I don't see how else you can get through to them what they are doing if you don't turn it back around at them.

I really would consider a "price sheet" taped to your office door.

We have someone here who will come to my desk after lunch and say "how come you didn't pick me up lunch?" I usually say, because you're capable of getting your own lunch.

some people!!

If you don't want to be a doormat, get up off the floor!!!!!

If I am going somewhere, I will offer to get something form someone from THAT SAME PLACE only.

Any other requests are denied.

That's just it though...just because i'm going to the Supermarket or Post office or to wherever to get something for myself or run personal errands, that doesn't mean I need to offer that to anyone nor should I apologize for it. That may sound mean, and i'm not trying to be mean, however sometimes I just want to do something on my lunchtime without any strings attached.

I'm sort of a doormat if you haven't noticed. Not anymore though...

Girl, GET UP and dust that "WELCOME" sign off your butt!

Stand in front of the mirror, put on a slightly distant smile and practice saying"No, I'm just too busy, I have so many things to do" Don't apologize. Treat yourself with respect or a user like your co-worker sure won't do it for you. Your time is valuable too.

Ha Ha I always this... Get Up Off the Floor. Ann Landers said that a long time ago Actually I think she said " No one can walk all over you unless you lie down"\

Anyway I have a few co workers that do this only They have the nerve to expect you to go to the deli and MAKE thier salad from the salad bar!! I did not ever do this for them but there were 2 other girls who reall hated but did not know how to get out of . Oh yeah this girl would also have the nerve to ask you to Just DRIVE thru Burger King for her when you were not even going there! SO I finally told her that we would all be happy to get her something at wherever we were going and that she cannot ask for salad bar!! Now she gets up off her ...... And gets her own stuff. Thank god as she alwasy ordered wierd stuff and the girls hated asking for it.
So get up off the Floor!!! And I don't think you should make something up I think you should be honest and let her know that it is an INCONVENIENCE to YOUR lunch Hour!!!!!

For a co-worker...NO! The boss is another story. I remember once my boss came over and asked if I had a stamp. Do you know how many days it takes for me to actually remember that I need stamps and finally stop at the post office? This was before I found out that Publix finally caught up with the times and had them at Customer Service. So I gritted my teeth to myself, smiled, and handed her one. My last I believe.

I don't think I have ever had anyone ask me to run errands for them. If it did happen, I would probably think it was a joke, and say something like "sure thing". Then when I came back empty handed and something was said, I could really say I thought they were joking and laugh. Their only response would be either laughter to save face, or anger which would also make them look bad.
Even thinking about it makes me laugh, talk about nerve. However, I agree that if you do it, you should be compensated.

That's unbelievable! I wouldn't dream of asking a co-worker to run ANY of my errands. I don't even ask anyone to pick up lunch for me. It's my time to veg-out and take care of personal business. j
Unfortunately you're probably going to end up looking like the big meany even though it's your co-workers who is a needy leech.
