CM's wearing their uniforms off property

I was very annoyed when I saw an AK CM on a resort bus to AKL in full uniform. I didn't think that should be allowed.

I haven't seen that particular one, but I have seen CM's using Disney transport to get from one area to another. A friend of mine who retired from Disney did that because he did not have a car, and had to take the Lynx bus to work. It would drop him at the TTC and then he took Disney transport to the resort where he worked. So there may be a legitimate reason for what you saw.

I don't understand what could be so annoying - I'm sure the CM had a reason to be on that bus.

Not sure why it would annoy you.

Were there no seats or space available?

While in costume and using Disney transportation, CM's should always be standing.

I don't get why it bothers people to see people in stores wearing work uniforms. Never heard of this before.

Do you get upset about anyone in a uniform or just Disney uniforms?

Doesn't bother me. I also don't mind them riding a bus.

What am I missing?

Exactly. He probably did have a good reason to be on that bus, otherwise, the driver wouldn't have let him on. I just don't understand the big deal. Did it damage the disney experience because a CM was on a resort bus? Or was he taking up a seat?

I totally forgot about that [the security]! And our nametags, we couldn't take our nametags! [Totally bummed 'bout that one...]

My brother returned home from the international program with about 8 nametags - he kept either losing his or forgetting (one of his many) back at his apartment and had to use one of the "spares".

Many times I've seen CM's from the international program at the Premium Outlet mall just outside the parks in their uniforms.. not too suprising considering many of their apartments are located right beside it.

Maybe she was heading there as a replacement worker for the day and they would have uniform there for her to change into. Some days CMs are needed more at one park and they do send additional help from a less busy park.

1) Go to Miller's Ale House on either Tue or Thu night.
2) Look and see all the CM's in uniform getting soused after work.

actually we saw Snow White at the cardiologists once a couple years ago.

I'm guessing to check for any latent heart issues caused by the poison apple induced coma? :confused3

Qiute honestly, if this is all you posters have to worry or think about, you must have really boring lives....why is it you business in any case! Just trying to get some CM in trouble?

Rusty Scupper, seems we would find you in Millers Ale house getting drunk as well?

Wore my costume to Walmart just last night on my way home, happens all the time.

When I first moved here, before I worked for Disney I played "guess that costume" in my neighborhood all the time. It was kinda fun.

I have heard stories of CM's getting reprimands for wearing costumes or pieces of a costume into the parks or out when it's not necessary, but those are just stories-not going to say it's a fact. (say a costume jacket over street clothes)

I have no idea why you'd want to wear the thing other than on a workday.

An earlier poster mentioned the standards of Disney Look and that they have fallen down. I'm sure that in some cases that's true, but the places I've worked they've been pretty strict on it. There are Disney Look people that come to the locations and check if the location is in compliance. It's a matter of pride to get that good mark from them.
Part of the "disheveled" look might be that it is not easy to get costumes that fit well on everyone. I've got 5 pairs of pants in my closet and no two of them fit the same way. :lmao:

I thought it was a pretty interesting question. :goodvibes I didn't know about this policy before reading this thread.

I think guests are just asking out of curoiusity. I have guests ask me all the time if I live on property or if I commute from my home state :rotfl2:

I was once in Starbucks on my way home from work and as I waited for my drink I was tapped on my shoulder. A woman was standing there and she said "You must have had a long day at work and be very tired" I responded that I did and I was and then she pointed to my name tag and said she understood and that was why my name tag was still on. So I took it off and stuffed it into my pocket. It happens...no big deal.
