My son would like to meet people from England, and I know there are servers onboard from England. Would it be ok to request to have a server from England? I realize that nothing is guaranteed, but I wonder if it's even proper to ask for a certain nationality. Thanks!

You can request anyone that you want...and as you said it is not guaranteed that you will get it though. Some of the cruise staff are from England as well as some of the camp counselors.....your son will be able to meet many from England.

We met a really nice drink server from England named Susan, come of the kids' counselors (in club and lab) were from England or Australia, and isn't Rachel the cruise director from England? There are brits and wonderful accents all over the ship!

We had a server named David, from England, in 8/02. He wasn't on the ship last summer, and I don't know if he's back. He was AWESOME......my daughter still talks about him!!

We had David, too! He was great! We saw him on another cruise after that and wondered if would be there again this time...

I think my DH and I had David also a couple of years ago...his assistant was Vicki, also from England. They were both wonderful, not only with suggestions for food and wine, but socially! We could have talked to them all night!!:p

It's YOUR vacation and you can request anything within reason that you want. Even if you don't get a server from England, if you let guest services and your servers know that your son is interested in meeting people from England, I'm sure some of them will drop by your table to say Hi.

Check out the Navigators when you get on board. The kids Navigators show the counselors pictures with their names and countries.

Unfortunately for your son, our favorite Englishwoman, Gemma, is in Palo.

We were randomly assigned to tablemates from Liverpool and we had many nights where we shared differences and similarities in our cultures. It was a highlight of our dinner times!

There are certainly MANY English CM's on board, but they are spread over many departments. Yes, our DD Gemma, is in Palo, and LOVES it, but there are several other Servers/Assistants from UK. Adrian is a well known favourite!

Sadly, David, mentioned earlier, is not on the Magic now. He is a great pal of Gemma's, and I believe he is currently serving on board the Queen Mary 2nd, which DOES meet up in certain ports with the Magic! Many of the CM's meet up with pals from other ships in ports: some have relatives working on other cruise ships too.

Please DO chat to other nationalities - it is great to learn about their own countries and customs. We have learned SO much over our 4 cruises.Nat:Pinkbounc
