CM incentive

My CMC is holding a year long incentive. If you scrap 250 pages during the year 2004 she will "give" you a free 12 x 12 CM album. The only catch is most of your supplies need to be from CM and hopefully purchased from her.

I figured it is only 20 + pages a month. Not bad if you have the time, take lots of pictures or are extremely behind. My only problem is I do not care for most of their products. I always feel limited using them, plus they cost more than what I can get at my LSS.

Trying to decide if this is worth trying. I have already done 29 pages so far this year, so I am ahead. But I hate to give up the freedom of using what I already have, and not being able to use whatever product I want.

Well, this is a tough one. I'm assuming you use the strap hinge style of album. For me this would be a "no-brainer" 'cause I'm a top-loader only.;) Anyway, I think you have to weigh the benefits vs. the work. So if you do bust your gut doing 250 pages this year (which would be an unbelievable record for me!) you get one album. One album. What if you get sick or something and you get behind and you end up only doing 225 pages and you've spent all this money on stuff you've admitted you don't really even like. So then you have all these pages with CM embellishments that you don't like and no free album to show for it.
I'm sure I'll offend some with my take on it. It's a marketing ploy, plain and simple. I understand the reasoning of it and why the CMC's offer it. That's how they make money and I'm sure they get a lot of people to sign up. I can think of a couple girls that would be first to sign up because they love the CM albums so much!
I'd rather challenge myself to do 20 pages a month and "gift" myself at my LSS. ;)

As a CMC myself, I think this is a chintzy offer. No offense, but that is a LOT of money you will be spending for one $36 album. I know other CMC's who offer deals like this and this is what I do  ...I like to do things like raffles, or this year I have a coupon book I gave my customers at Open House. This month for example is 15% off any organizational item. Another month it's 20% off any maker. I don't like this "You have to buy something in order to get something." I feel that my customer's loyalty is enough to offer a good discount now and then----give people goodies/great crops/occasional discounts/superior customer service and they will be your customer for life! But as I have said in other posts, I am not a CMC who is making this her "business" so I hope I am not undermining other CMC's....

Sounds like a great incentive if you were a true CM person I am not. I like their albums to look at but not to use so it wouldn't be a good plan for me.
I think you need to evaluate how happy you would be with your books if you did it all the CM way. I will say I use a lot of their power lay out ideas and the pages do come together nicely and I can complete a lot...so that is somethign to think about!

Alice28 -- I wish you were MY CMC!! I like the crops mine does and she is close, so there is the convenience factor. However, she is SOOOO cheap and stingy it isn't funny. She never goes above and beyond and NEVER gives a discount -- period. When I finished my Memory Keeper card I vowed to spend as little as possible at her crops and wean myself from them entirely.

She also does a similar gimmick called Photo Finish. It runs from Feb 1st to the middle of March. There are teams of 2 - 4 scrappers and you get a score each week based on your average # of pages. Each member of the winning team gets a free 12 x 12 album. She even broke her own rules last year and allowed a team of her consultants to enter and, of course, they won.

Aww..thanks! I wish I was your CMC too! I would treat y'all quite well! You're my online scrappin buddies! All I care about with my business is being able to sell the inventory I have on hand, have a class once a month or every other month, and keep my current customers interested in the new products- sure, the little profit is great, but I mostly just don't want my Discover card to sky-rocket cause I'm not selling the stuff I bought! Some CMC's will nickel and dime every last cent they can and that kind of attitude, CM or not, drives me CRAZY. IE., I don't charge shipping for my customers, unless of course they live out of town. CM charges a flat $15 per order, and it's free if you order $800 worth of stuff. For me, and this is my personal decision, I just write off the $15 I pay for shipping once every couple of months, and not charge my customers that extra buck or two....and since I live in Oregon, my customers just LOVE the fact that I don't charge sales tax (we don't have any here) AND no shipping! Even though I don't usually discount the stuff, it's almost like there is a small discount cause I don't tack on a shipping fee. :sunny:

Thanks for the input. I think I am going to pass on her offer. I know I can get the pages done, but not sure I want to do it the CM way. There is nothing wrong with it, just not my style and I know it would cost me more than what I buy at my LSS.

You could always do the challenge on your own. Then if you make the 250 pages (in they style you choose) by the end of the year you can treat yourself to something you really want that you may not have gotten otherwise.
