I'm not a cast member, just curious.
But anyone knows how much do CMs get paid as a compensation?
Do they still get 100% of their normal wage during park closure?

From what I read when it first started and they were closed for the rest of the month Disney said they will pay them their full pay. But we all know this is going to go on for a long time. Who knows what Disney will do next month than the month after that than the month after that, etc. Florida has a really low unemployment pay. A lot of cast members will be hurting if they have to go on uemployment.

I believe it was stated they would get paid for the hours they were scheduled whether they had to com in to work of not. Those schedules only go up until March 31st and they have delayed releasing the next schedule (supposedly will come out tomorrow) so this will show a lot - do they continue to book people to hours and pay them, move everyone down to zero hours? Or do they terminate them so they can collect unemployment and then (potentially) rehire them?

I think a lot has to go with how long Did ey thinks the parks will really be closed for

they don’t have to terminate them for them to get unemployment. They just can laid them off. On their unemployment they will put still employed but lack of hours from employer.

true, different technicalities. Some companies are laying them off/terminating them/firing them/whatever ... and then others are putting them on furlough

To me the two big differences I would look for is if they still keep them fully employed and pay them or if they change their status so they can file for unemployement

It was already said that Disney will pay them in full during the shutdown. Even if that weren't the case in the UK, the CMs in the Disney Stores here would at least get 80% of their wages from HM Government, during the shutdown.

you guys have great unemployment. Florida unemployment pay is very very low. One of the worst in USA. Hopefully they will keep getting paid by disney. Or lots of cast members will be hurting. I know I would be.
it’s a shame that Florida has to have a very low unemployment pay.

It highlights the sorry state of welfare in the United States. And I'll feel sorry for those who aren't going to be lucky, and will have to struggle for possibly months to come. At least Disney are showing that they care about the welfare of their CMs, in the absence of reasonable state welfare.

Only three states is worst than Florida in unemployment pay. Two states is the same as Florida. I consider four of the states being poor states. I don’t consider Florida being a poor state. With all their tourism money that comes in. What a shame

It really depends on your position and your status. For example some part time operations cast won't get paid but part time bus drivers get a percentage of their pay. There has been no word about how long the company will pay either.

Living within your means with 3-6 months of living expenses in savings and you would get through this in pretty good shape. Anyone naive enough to depend on someone else to take care of them in a time of crisis is going to suffer, plain and simple regardless of the level of unemployment benefits being received.

At the moment (as of 03/25/2020):
1) Employee communications from WDW say they will pay thru April.
2) This is mainly for full-time "status-ed" Cast Members.
3) Part-timers are S.O.L.
. . . Part-time employees got a few extra hours of pay LAST pay period.
. . . These were hours not worked or scheduled.
. . . More/Future pay is NOT mentioned.
