I miss seeing their hometowns on the badges. I used to like to see where they were from, and actually found some CM's who lived in places where I had been.

I don't understand the new captions under their names.

I'm with you Deb, that is the way we always started up conversations with CM's - Oh State College huh, ever been to the ShandyGaff? Our kids have old badges that have our hometown on them and they are a lot of fun. I always fear losing them. Once time oldest DS left his on a plane, we were getting luggage and heard on the PA system - Jason honored guest from Doylestown, you left your pin on the plane.

I miss those too! I thought I remember hearing from a CM that they were going to go back to home towns after the 100 years of magic celebration was over, but I guess not. Supposedly those are their "favorite Disney memory" or something like that underneath.

The CMs will be getting new name tags in May- blue with Tinkerbell, and I think they will have the hometowns again. :)

The current ones have a favorite or first Disney memory on them- that's only for the 100 yrs celebration.

I was just at DLR about three weeks ago and noticed hometowns on the badges on the CMs at the hotel. I didn't notice if they had them in the parks or not. I even remember someone asking a CM at the Bell Desk what the towns and countries were for on the badges and he told her that it was the CM's hometown/country. Is it just at WDW that the CMs don't have the hometowns?

Guess that will mean a change to the guest of honor badges too?? I'll have to make sure my boys are up to date next trip. :D

I like seeing the home towns too. It points out that people from all over work for Disney. It is a great conversation starter too.

I'll be glad to see the hometowns back. I like seeing where people are from. We have ours from the 25th anniversary - the red ones with our hometown on them. We wear them every trip to the world.

I miss them too. Last time I was there they had their favorite attraction. What do they have now?

Too bad only cast members can post on the cast member board or we could ask over there.

I liked the hometowns on the badges too. Hope they bring it back. I thought it was a good conversation starter.

I noticed that when we were in WDW last week, many of the CM's in the countries in EPCOT had their hometowns and countries on their tags. There were a few who didn't, however.

Don't you have some pull in that department? ;) :teeth:

I loved when CMs had their hometowns on the badges; being from Rhode Island, we were probably related. ;)

Kallison, did GoH badges have hometowns on them too??

There was a delay from the supplier so that's why we're still wearing the 100 Years pin. We'll receive the new ones in May and they will once again have the hometowns on them.

Thank you for asking. I work at Test Track and love every minute of it!

Thanks, AngieBelle and Otimon! Glad to hear the homtowns are coming back!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Say, Otimon . . . Did Test Track EVER go back up last Friday, 4/25????? We had a 2 pm Fastpass that we never got to use :( :(

The "Magical Memory" was explained in the guidemaps during the 100YoM celebration. May 1 is the changeover. No longer will people tell their children "look, he works at the Haunted Mansion" while I am clearly working at the front entrance, helping them to find the bright-orange slot to put their tickets in (we're going to have to make those a more noticealbe color...)

Sorry you didn't get to use your Fastpass at Test Track, Deb. Hope you can make up for it during your next visit.

Best wishes.

Yip. :) All of us international folks are asked at our interviews what town we would like on our name bage. I might be wrong, (anyone want to correct me  ) but I think that the WDWIP CMs never had their fav. Disney memory on their name tag, just their home town.

I'm going to be the odd one out here and say that I liked the whole fav. Disney memory thing. :) It was interesting to keep an eye out for a CM with the same fav. Disney memory as yourself. :) Although, I can see some guests being easily confused.  :) :) :)

Ona ;)

You will be happy to know that the hometowns will be reappearing on the CM's badges sometime this May.

As for what the names on the badges meant for the past 1 1/2 years, they were special characters or Disney movies that meant alot to each CM. I really liked them!

The 100 years of Magic nametags had the cm's favorite "Memory" of Disney. There was a list to choose from ranging from movies, different parks, attractions, and characters.
