CONCORD, N.H. -- Authorities Tuesday appealed for the public's help to find the bodies of two Concord children believed killed by their father.

Concord police and the FBI released a description of the burial site of Phillip and Sarah Gehring but said they did not know exactly where that site might be. Officials said the search concentrated along Interstate 80 from the Ohio-Indiana border to Joliet, Ill.

"This is a case where because the potential site covers so many hundreds of miles, that the public ... may know some of these specific facts," Attorney General Peter Heed said.

Manuel Gehring is expected to return to New Hampshire Tuesday afternoon between 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to face charges of first-degree murder in the deaths of his children.

"Our appeal to [the public] is based on our strong desire to provide resolution to the family and friends of Sarah and Phillip," Concord Police Chief Jerome Madden said.

Officials said they had been searching several locations throughout the Midwest but had found nothing. They said they had been provided a description of the burial site but not the location of the site.

Authorities said they believe the children are buried together probably within 10 miles of Interstate 80.

Several details of the suspected burial site were released:

Five or six cement cylinders, approximately 4 feet in diameter and height.
A 6-foot fence with a rectangular pattern in the immediate area.
A mound of gray or white rocks, similar to those utilized in drainage applications.
An old-fashioned silver and green hand-lever water pump.
An irregular cement slab, 4 or 5 feet in diameter, lying on the ground.
Several large shade trees, similar to willows, with limbs extending to the ground.
A nearby eroding embankment.
A tan or yellow building, within view of the site.

Special Agent Jay Fallon would not say who provided the details of the burial site, but Gehring has reportedly been helping officials attempt to locate the body during his extended trip back to New Hampshire.

Fallon said that the middle seat from a green minivan recovered in California is also missing and being sought by authorities.

"The investigation thus far leads us to believe that that seat has been deposited somewhere off of I-80 in the state of Nebraska," Fallon said.

Officials said anyone with any information about the location of the children should contact local law enforcement or Concord police at 603-225-8600. The details of the burial site will also be posted on the Concord Police Department's Web site.

I hope someone out there can help bring closure to their grieving mother and extended family :(
