Clueless with this stuff--question on memory card

Hi everyone-
I finally bought a new digital camera--a Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital ELPH

I was told to get a 2GB memory card so I just purchased a SanDisk 2GB SD card
Is there a way to see how many pictures thsi memory card will hold? I just need a general idea as I am going on vacation and want to be sure of how many pictures this holds.

Here is a link to a capacity chart from Kingston, one of the memory companies, that should give you some idea. Storage Chart - Number of Pictures Per Card . Also, many of the camera manuals give the number of pictures at a given resolution for a variety of card sizes (those sizes accepted by that camera - and indeed, turn to pages 211 - 213 of your manual, and you will find this information).

Enjoy your camera - it has a lot of different capabilities and will be a great tool for you.
