Friday afternoon we are swimming at main pool and up strolls a young woman with dog in tow.

I guess even though the rules forbid it, pet owners can still drive their dogs around in their golf carts or baskets on their bicycles anywhere in FW.

Special people above the rules I guess.

Somebody else posted that they may build a dog park at the Fort:scared: . If this happens I guess we can plan on seeing dogs all over the Fort not just in pet loops.

Well I am glad I won't be staying there I am allergic to dogs and if they are anyplace near my my allergies flip out. That ad I realy don't want to have to put up with somones yappy little mongril or big yappy mutt. They should have to board them just like the rest of the resorts.

Please don't lump all pet owners together, When at the fort I pay extra to stay in a pet loop, keep my dogs within the loop and clean up after them.
I would be more worried about the 10 year olds driving the golf carts at night then a dog out of it's area on a leash. If someone is breaking a rule and you are so worried about it you should report it. By the way, I thought the Fort only allowed electric carts? better get on that to while you are policing the dog owners.

Thank you for being a responsible pet owner!!! Unfortunalty some pet owners are not(not just at the Fort but everywhere). I love the fact that pets are allowed at FW and occasionaly bring my cats. Some people, either because thay don't know(I hope) or don't care(I hope not) don't respect the right of others to not be around animals and take their pets outside of the loop designated for them(right past the signs that say "No pets beyond this point". Hopefully it will never get to the point that so many people are breaking the rule that Disney has to say no more pets.

As for golf carts, they rule has changed and gas carts are now allowed.

Don't know that either is worse or better(underage cart driving or not keeping to pet areas) but both are against FW rules and can affect the ability of others to enjoy their vactions. If that underage driver causes an accident of course the consecuence(sp) is obvious, if the dog outside of a pet loop causes heath(allergy or simply afraid of dogs) issues for other guests the problem may not be so obvious to the pet owner.

I have taken my dog to FW for the past 9 years. We stay in the pet loop, walk in the designated pet areas, board during the day in the kennels so he won't disturb others if he barks, and I clean up after his mess. I have also seen people take their pets where they shouldn't be, and I tell them. If I have to follow the rules, then so do they. I would encourage anyone who sees a violator to turn them in. Most of the dog owners I have encountered in the pet loops follow the rules. It is the minority that give us a bad name, and I resent being lumped in with them. My dog is probably a better guest at FW than many children and adults. He doesn't get drunk, he isn't driving a golf cart in an erratic or dangerous manner, he doesn't steal bicycles or coolers, he isn't using a refillable mug from another resort at the Meadows.

It is sad that some people, usually the minority, have to do their own thing and not follow established rules that make society as a whole, not just WDW, better. Every where you go you fine someone breaking a rule that they feel is not meant for them. It is worse when people pick a particular group and imply that the whole group is bad because of a few people that do their own thing with that particular activity. So if those people, that accuse whole groups because a few bad ones, have never broken any rules in their own life I ask you this, have you ever gone over the speed limit? If so than we need to stop all people from driving their cars.

Disney has a policy for the general cast members of no confutation. So if you see someone breaking a rule why do you say something rather that reporting it? Chances are if more people said something that person would change or become frustrated to the point of not coming back. More people in our society think it is everyone else’s responsibility to do something and then they complain when taxes go up to pay people like the police to take care of things that could be taken care of face to face.

Sorry I went off on a tangent. People just need to stop lumping people together instead of pointing out the few bad apples.

As I said, I did tell them. The usual response I got was to tell me where to go. Sometimes reporting a violator is the only appropriate action.

I think the OP states "special people above the rules I guess"
That does not imply that all pet owners are careless, nor does it lump them all into the same category. He makes a valid point and one that I have posted on before, FW needs to do a better job of enforcing the rules. Other guests should have a reasonable expectation that they will be enforced. My personal experience has been that WDW has rules only for people that are willing to follow them, if you wish to disregard the rules there really are no consequences even if a complaint is made, again thats my personal experience. I have had problems with many issues over the last few trips, all of which were reported and NOTHING was done that effected a change, they include.

A young woman "flashing" her boyfriend at the cabin pool
dogs locked in campers (pop up) and barking all day
golf carts being driven recklessly
golf carts driven recklessly by children under 16
theft of FW property
burning in BBQ grilles (not little fires)
people parking mutliple visitor vehicles at their site

These are things that I would expect to encounter at a poorly funded State park, not at FW.

soapbox yielded

I did read that you said something and I am glad you did. Now if everyone else would say something, instead of expecting someone else to take care of the problem, the problem people will get sick of hearing it and change or leave. But if only one person says something it is easier for perpetrator to feel that nobody has an issue with their behavior except that one person that said something, making it easier for the perpetrator to continue the behavior.

Agreed, I think rude people have worn the nerves of the CM's.
I couldnt face that level of rudeness on a daily basis. Having grown up in the midwest I was raised to be polite, respectful and use my manners. Thats what Mom made us do !

I am a pet owner..and would love to bring my dog to FW. We actually got into camping because we had a pup..as a good many campers do. I think it's nice that we can bring them to FW, and look forward to doing so. I do realize that there are the few..that usually give the majority of good pet owners a bad name.
From what I've read here..it seems that Disney could do a better job of enforcing the rules. Of course they aren't going to throw someone out..but I'd bet they'd be pretty humiliated if they were taken to task for the infraction.
I have also run into a couple of problems in the campground we are seasonal in. Very often there isn't security ..and there had been disturbances at night. Loud campouts until 4 in the morning....kids in golf carts ron-a-muk. Coolers being stolen(kids looking for beer). The response from the ownerships was to "call the police"...and people have done so. I don't think that management really expected that people would do just that..and it seemed that when they did call a few times..the park management became much more attentive to what was going on after office hours. I don't think the local police were all too happy about having to "police" the park. I wonder if you are able to call the local police to Disney:confused3 ..say if your bike is stolen..or if someone is "flashing".. that's against the law around where we live.

Not a bad idea but then Reedy Creek would have to add more police and then raise the taxes to pay for the police officers then WDW will just pass that cost onto the guests. I will continue to approach the trouble makers and question them. If everyone would step up it would make a difference.

Well teh flashing part is no problem in Ontario it is legal for women to go topless in public up here what a great country we have LOL.

Sorry folks. This has gotten a little off topic, and since I have a big day at work tomorrow and will not be around much, I'm closing this thread.

Have a good week everyone!!
