My sources report that The Walt Disney World will be rolling out a new refillable mug program in the first quarter of 2005.
The Walt Disney World has been conducting an exhausting study over the past three years and has found that the number one issue with the current refillable mug program is guest angst over actually drinking out of the mugs while visiting The Walt Disney World on trips subsequent to the trip when the mugs were purchased. Apparently the temptation to return to The Walt Disney World with old mugs was so great that most were not able to resist it and they had starting associating guilt with a trip to The Walt Disney World.
Executives at The Walt Disney World think that this is one of the primary reasons that numbers are down at their theme parks.
The highlight of the new program is that the new mugs will have no bottoms on them at all. This way you can buy the mug once and simply pour your favorite beverages right down the drain on subsequent trips. The Walt Disney Company is hoping that this will relieve guest angst while retaining the same effect against their bottom line and that tourism numbers will rebound.
You heard it here first.
