Hey guys,

I'm brand new to collecting/trading Disney pins (I've got one on it's way from ebay and that's it)

My question is about trading etiquette...How do u start a trade, do you just walk up to cast member/other guest and ask or is there some kind of secret sign or something I need to learn. lol I really am clueless but I'm going to WDW in a week and I really want to make sure I don't do anything stupid! I've read lots of the boards about trading etiquette but I'd love some first hand advice if at all possible.

and p.s. are the fastpass hidden mickey pins on sale or can you only trade for them? I think they're absolutely fantastic!!!

Thanks for helping me begin my addiction :rotfl2:

It is easy. Just go up to any cast member wearing a blue lanyard (green lanyards will only trade with kids) and ask to see their pins. Be polite and don't interrupt the cast member if the CM is helping another guest. Another thing is to not touch the CM's lanyard. Just say which pins you want to trade for or point at the ones you want. When you hand them your trader pins, make sure you have the back on them so they don't stick themselves. And always say thank you when your are done with the trade.

I was nervous the first couple of times I traded but now I love it. I'm also leaving for Disney next week and I can't wait to trade.

thank for all the help you two...

Yeah it's a little scary getting involved but I'm sure I'll be trading like a pro before you know it! For years I went to Disney and saw all these pins and strange and mysterious things going on with them but I never really knew much more than that...

I'll be in Disney next week too lol wouldn't it be good if we traded and didn't even know we'd been talking (look for the guy searching desperately for fastpass pins)

Have a great time next week
Stu

Now that would be funny. I only need the Peter Pan Fast Pass pin so hopefully I will see it next week. I can't wait!!!

I only need the Peter Pan one from that collection (Thanks to WONDERFUL Ebay today) but just found out there's a whole different set with dinosaur and other ones so now I'll franticly searching for those! haha i've been a pin collector for just two days and I'm already worried it's starting to become an obsession :rolleyes1 oh well there are faaaaaar worse addictions in the world!!! :cool1: :thumbsup2

I'M SO EXCITED I REALLY CAN'T STOP TALKING ABOUT DISNEY TO EVERYONE, PEOPLE THINK I'M CRAZY HAHA...

Maybe see you there lol

Another point of trading etiquette, especially when it comes to female CMs. Don't just stand there wordlessly and ogle the pins on their lanyards, which tend to hang in their chesticular areas. Ask to see the pins and let the CM hold the lanyard up for you. Otherwise, your ogling could be misinterpreted. ;)

surely oogling of any kind is outlawed and disney...I can asure everyone I'm a perfect gentleman, however chestacular a CM might be :magnify: :magnify: :magnify: hehehe

I'm glad I found this thread. :worship:

I asked a very a helpful CM and a very nice family earlier this summer when I was at WDW about pin trading, and got some of the basics, which helped a lot! But the websites a PP posted above will really help me with even more of my research.

I don't mean to take over the OP's thread, but if I may ask ... can you trade pins from the Disney Store websites at the Disney Parks?

Also (and sorry again for straying from the topic of the original thread, but I figure this thread is all about pin trading questions, so it's OK to write this here instead of creating a new thread), the Haunted Mansion pin set that was released in the end of June 2008 ... was that very popular and can I still find these? I purchased the one with a purple HM wallpaper and Master Gracey in it. And how come these were not displayed like other pins on the pin racks? They were on a pin board near the cash registers.

TIA!

I have a laynard full of pins that I have been collecting on ebay for our trip to Disney. Can't wait to start trading!!! Thanks for this helpful thread:)

I am glad you had a great time. Your picture made me laugh because we got our picture with Donald in Mexico too. My boyfriend was so happy because we didn't see him on our last trip.

I did manage to trade for a Peter Pan hidden mickey for my collection. I got all of the completer pins except for the Figment one. I saw lots of Figment pins on lanyards, just never the one I needed.

Stu -

Thanks for posting this thread. I wondered the same thing too. I just purchased my first 5 pins today on ebay....only I am not sure I want to trade them. I may need to rethink what to collect for trading and what to collect for keeping.

For as many times I have been to WDW I cannot believe I never got into Disney pins. Hope you had a great trip!! :donald:
