Clueless about DL/CA

Any help I could get since I am thinking of making my first visit to these parks. Have always gone east because I can normally stay cheaper at one of the values. For example the trip I am planning is 3 days/nights with hopper for two staying at Super 8. This would directly precede a stay at WDW for 6 days/nights with hopper and free dining at ASMovies which will only cost $140 more:confused3

Anyhow since the family had a trip planned for the fall but everyone wants to cancel I may just have the money already set aside. Sure wish Screamin wasn't going to be refurbed during my trip and that my car wasn't 13 years old so I could save on airfare. Probably should put the saved money to a car but not as much fun:rolleyes1

We'd fly into John Wayne so I wonder about transportation? Taxi best? We would only do Disney as only have three days so no need for rental car, especially as I am
looking at hotels within walking distance for the convenience.

I am following this section of the boards avidly now so I know I'll find info and probably have more questions:worship:

Welcome to the DL boards ;) I have never been to WDW but I think you will LOVE DLR!! It's smaller and really just amazing and fun. There are great places to eat and awesome rides. The hotels around the park are pretty decent also and the walk isn't long at all.

There's a sticky at the top of the forum for WDW vets coming to DLR for the first time. That should answer a lot of your questions! (We'll still gladly answer them, too!)

Depending on your dates, check out Desert Inn and Suites on Harbor. They generally have rooms for $60-89 in the off-season, and are across the street from DLR.

In the past, way.com, orbitz.com, and velocity.com have all had great ticket deals. Are you or your travel partner a military person? That cuts the ticket price in half.

Don't know how I missed sticky! Thanks!

No military or any other discount qualifier.

I saw this too but when I looked into it, it said that Screamin' actually may or may not be closed, most of the rides are refurbed every 3 years or so and that is just the time it was refurbed 3 years ago, so the thing saying Screamin'' will be closed is more just a guess than an a guaranteed thing

Is there a hotel shuttle you can get? The Traffic in CA SUCKS! Especially the 91 ( which you wont be taking but believe me it's bad ). Im just saying taking a taxi from John wayne may cost you a pretty penny. I'd look into a rental car or shuttle? Disneyland is A LOT smaller so you can get more done. But on the the other hand since it's so small it's crowded. I'd defiantly look into fast passes especially in the car land area. California Adventure is a lot slower to! Great park the take it easy in. Hope you have fun!

I took a taxi from John Wayne airport before. It was around $40 plus tip. We were at our hotel in less than 15 minutes. :) Otherwise, look into SuperShuttle for the least expensive way to go. Check online for SuperShuttle coupons also.
