Hi, I have started saving tesco clubcard vouchers thinking that I could use them to book a virgin holiday package.

But we will have our DVC for the bulk of the accomodation and as you have to book a package with Virgin to use the tokens, we would end up booking a cheap hotel through them that we won't use, and I am wondering whether this is a good idea??

I know that clubcard points can also be used for airmiles, but again I am not sure whether it is worth it as we would still have to pay part cash??

What do you guys do? - does anybody use clubcard vouchers in part payment for their Florida holidays or do you just spend them on something else??

Has anyone ever priced up all the options? Is it actually cheaper to do DIY flights, car hire & the odd extra night in a hotel rather than use the Tesco 'deals' at all??

Thanks for any info!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

As you have your DVC, then it would be a false ecomony to use your clubcard vouchers to pay for your flight.

For August 2010 for example the cheapest package at the moment is around 2700.00 for three. You need to ask yourself if your could get cheaper flights paying cash.

As for airmiles, the conversation rate to these is not as good, but again it depends if you can afford the cash.

I have now paid for three holidays in full apart from taxes with tesc points to Florida. however if I owned a DVC, then I would pay cash for my flights and then use the tesco points for another holiday.

If you go to a website called paid to shop, there is a whole bunch of people who are experts on airmiles, and they may be able to help.

What time of year were you thinking of going?

Also don't forget that you can book flydrives with Cosmos using your deals, so that may be a better option.

Also forgot to add, I had to pay 630.00 in cash for taxes, 120.00 for weekend flight supplements and there is now another 150.00 green tax. So that's quite a lot of cash to pay.

I think you would be better off paying for cash for your flights TBH, and then have a nice holiday in the EU with your tesco points

We used our CC points for BA miles - each flight is 50,000 miles but there was a miles sale in November so each flight was 25,000 + tax so we saved a lot as the BA flights were showing up as £700 ish return and we paid £202 each :thumbsup2

We have used them for Hilton as well.

Airmiles may be worth looking into because if you have enough airmiles taxes are included :)

Are these credit card points that you used, or tesco points?

thanks everyone - I am beginning to think I will use the Tescos points for a holiday in Europe (we will only have enough DVC points to holiday in WDW twice in a 3 year period so the 3rd year we are 'holiday less!!':lmao:).

Cosmos would be a good alternative, but I have a real fear of flying and have developed an obsession which will only allow me to fly direct with Virgin or BA - don't ask why I can't explain it even to myself!!

So I will never get enough vouchers to pay for florida outright via VH , so hopefully I can get somewhere closer to home for the 3rd year using the clubcard and pay cash for Florida.

Thanks for your advice - you've been really helpful!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I have found this thread very interesting. I now have the option of using my cc deals for airmiles with BA or a fly-drive with cosmos. Thanks for the info.:thumbsup2
