Just curious, do you think a club sandwich should be served hot or cold?

I’ve always thought they should be cold. A few years ago I received one in a restaurant that was served hot. I wasn’t a fan of it. I think the bread should be toasted, not grilled. And the components of the sandwich (ham, turkey, bacon, American and Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise) should all be cold.

Today I received another hot one. When I picked up one of the quarter pieces I realized the bread was grilled, not toasted, as it was greasy. Then when I took my first bite I realized everything inside was hot. When the waitress asked if our food was okay I told her I was surprised the sandwich was hot rather than cold. She said “ we get that a lot!”

Seems to me they should note that on the menu. But lesson learned, from now on I will always ask if the club sandwich is served hot or cold.

Depends on the sandwich and the meat. I usually don't care for cold cuts. So, I won't have one if it's cold, like a turkey club.

If it's a piled on high, pastrami sandwich with cole slaw and Russian dressing, then yes, HOT all the way.

I do not care for open-faced, hot & thin sandwiches with gravy. I had a couple open-faced turkey sandwiches as a child. It was a novelty to have them that way, instead of cold and sandwiched together. But, I won't have one now.

If it was hot I'd think it was a Cuban sandwich or like a Panini, not a Club, I'd be irked.

I recently saw an episode of Diners Drive ins and Dives and they took out grilled fish and chips, not gonna lie but I would have the mother of all tantrums if I ordered battered goodness and got health food.

I prefer it with the bread toasted and the sandwich slightly warmed but not hot.
I think every club sandwich I've ever had was toasted, and while I wouldn't describe it as "cold" it's difficult to keep the sandwich filling hot when you add the lettuce, tomato, etc. See also: Tacos--ostensibly they are served warm, but add the lettuce & tomato and it doesn't stay warm for very long.

I've never had a hot one; not even sure how it would be heated. That said, they're not usually ultra-cold either because they're made on warm toast. Is "tepid" a choice?
It was heated on the grill, just like a grilled cheese sandwich.

Cold - unless you're making this in burger form with a turkey burger.

For the sandwich, real turkey off the bone should be like Thanksgiving leftovers - cold (I don't do lunchmeats anymore, or dairy (butter/cheese), so my clubs look a little different than traditional - mayo and more veg, b/c I add avocado and onion, and less protein b/c mine are just turkey and bacon)
