Do any of you have a subscription to Club Penguin? I signed up for my daughter and she really enjoys it.

This month I noticed that they billed my checking account twice for the amount I thought was the monthly fee. Has anyone else had this happen? Is it possible that what I thought was a montly fee ($5.95) is a biweekly fee?

I think you were double charged somehow. It is 5.95 per month, I even double checked on the website. You might want to get in touch with their customer service and find out what is going on. Maybe they think you have 2 memberships?

Good luck. My daughter loves it too.

Ditto on dd loving this site. I usually just do it on a monthly basis using a Pay Pal account. I do it as a one time transaction as opposed to recurring, depending on whether or not dd has earned the privledges. ;)

She told me that they sell Club Pengiun pre-paid gift cards for memberships too?!?!! She said she saw them in a grocery store but I havent been able to find them. I will have to double check where she saw it.

I saw the Club Penguin membership cards at Target. It was in a free standing display with other "electronics" cards. One side was all Itunes cards and the other side had Club Penguin, Runescape, IMVU, and some other ones.

Is there a huge difference between the paid membership and the free one? My DS6 is begging me to buy the membership, but when I compare the $60 a year to the fact a $10 Webkinz gets us a whole site for a year, my reaction is no way.

Can someone convince me it is worth the cost?

does anyone know how the gift cards at Target work? My daughter would like to join but I'd rather not have a monthly charge.

I think thats where she said she saw it!! :)

Quick question though....is it "normal" for adults to play on Club Pengiun as well? dd said that she has "talked" with other grown ups and I don't know whether or not to be disturbed by it. We've gone over the talk about not giving out personal information and we moniter her use.

I just think its odd.

How does she know they are grown ups? I do find that a bit unsettling. My DDs both play on CP and I've heard of some adults playing also, but how would someone know how old your are?:confused3

On two seperate occassions, she was talking with other penguins. One time a fellow penguin said they had to go to bed because her husband would get mad.

Another time she talked to a penguin who said his grandkids LOVED the site and also played on there as well.

the gift cards have a serial # on the back -- when you log on to club penquin it has a place to put in the serial #!

Anyone know of other good sites for kids like Club Penquin?

Aside from Club Penguin, both my dd's really like Toon Town as well. :thumbsup2

My DD loves CP too. She started off free, then for her bday 2 years ago got it paid and built up all kinds of "things" in her account. We let it expire and all her stuff stayed, but she could not wear/use it. She now earns money to play and when we first paid again, she got all her stuff back to use/wear again, so that was nice. I have an account and play with her once in a while. I created it when she first started playing so I could check it out and keep an eye on her, and I have alot of mom friends who did the same...so yes, adults do play too.
It strikes me a bit odd that they would intentionally say they were an adult, and I think you really have to watch them playing, as its so easy for kids to give out info without even knowing they are doing it and we all know there are alot of sicko's in the world.
She also loves to play Build a bearville and Webkinz.

Toys R Us also sells the CP cards - 29.95 for six months, the same as the website. To use them, you have to first cancel your recurring payment, then apply the gift card. I was worried the kids would lose everything once the membership was cancelled, but they didn't.

To the PP who asked about the difference between free and paid - it is apparently huge. The paid members can have more puffles and can decorate their igloos. I'm not sure what else, but the kids have really enjoyed the paid membership. They both used their allowance to pay for it, but they each got a 6-month card in their Christmas stockings.

Both of my kids (6 and 10) love Club Penguin. They also enjoy Toon Town (we have the free membership there) and occasionally play Webkinz, but Club Penguin is definitely the favorite for both of them.

Toon Town is another good Disney Game

My DS plays on Runescape which has a free version and a pay version. Not quite a kiddie thing like club penquin or toon town.

You can purchase a year long subscription on the website for Club Penguin, which is the most economical way.

Also, Webkinz is a fun site. Basically, your subscription is buying the stuffed animals. You get 12 mo. per animal. So with Webkinz you can control how much or little you spend on it. The bonus is the kids get stuffed animals.

We love Club Penquin. I pay the annual fee of $60. My boys share a penguin, which (VERY) surprisingly has worked out fine.

My kids love it! We buy the membership cards at Target...in fact I just picked up two more yesterday. My kids can get the cards if they earn them - I won't pay the monthly fee - so some months they have a membership and some months they don't. Also they are at the age where they get gift cards for bday presents and if they want the membership they buy the cards as well. :)
