Club level question

Okay, I've decided I'm probably going to say at PBH next summer and use my platinum status to try to get a suite upgrade. Now, how can I figure the club level into this? I'm so confused when it comes to the You First bookings and upgrades. When I call, do I tell them I want a club room but want to upgrade to a suite if available? If so, do I then pay the club room rate? I assume that includes a deluxe room ordinarily without the suite upgrade.

Also, for those of you who have had club rooms in the past, do you find the offerings worth the extra money. I plan to do more relaxing at the hotel this trip and figured I might use the club offerings a bit more than I would have in the past.

Here is what we do when we stay.

We book the garden view room.

Then we upgrade to the Portofino Suite with platinum at reservation. Your upgrade for platinum is the Portofino Suite and those rooms are not deluxes, they are standard rooms with a parlor attached. So, paying for a deluxe bedroom but getting moved to a standard room just for the parlor seems a bit of a waste.

Then we add club privileges at check-in for the $75.00 per night.

Thanks Goofy. I didn't know quite how to work that. I didn't realize you could add club features on like that. I assumed you had to book it that way. That sounds like a plan to me! I don't want to pay for the deluxe room if I don't have to.
