Club Level at Jambo House with Allergies

Hi-

I have a peanut allergy son, who coincidentally turned 6 on the day we check into AKV club level. I had previously contacted them requesting a particular muffin that most of the resorts carry in the gift shops that are peanut free. I also requested that they have some kind of divvie's or French meadow so that he could enjoy the lounge like big brother.

They assured me all would be taken care of. (Last year they had everything in my room when we got there). When I got there they first acted like they never heard of my request. Then said that policies have changed and they would not provide any alternatives for him.

I was very disappointed, but went to the gift shop to get the muffins myself. Then I found out that they no longer carry them at that gift shop. They could get them brought over from the shop at Kidani for me (very nice ladies working there). They called my room when they arrived later that night.

Just wanted to alert others here. Things worked out fine in the end, but it is always nice to be prepared..

I think they have trouble accommodating various allergies since things are brought up to the lounge from the restaurants and aren't really prepared in a safe environment. I figured it was a matter of time until the club-level lounges started having challenges - the AK lounge has really cut back on what's offered to start with. Other than getting a quick breakfast, we don't even bother anymore since it's the same thing every night save a few appetizers that no one wants (1" fig and goat tarts, anyone?). I'm sorry you weren't accommodated but glad someone tracked down the muffins. I wonder why they're no longer available at Mara though?---Kathy
