Club 33

thanks h.queen , for the info...i think my lil'cutie pie might
enjoy such a tour. ca't imagine anyone being
upset for letting others know what is available for
their kindred spirits. after all, isn't sharing the coolest
thing to do @ any disney park?

in reality , it is my wonderful wife who the disney leader
in our family. at best, i am just her tag~a~long. and
just by luck, & great table mates from a disney cruise,
we became dvc members. so instead of buying her
another ring, she got 3 contacts ( one each for the
3 wonderful children that has blessed our life).

well the thing about bj's feelings, he came across as he stated &
was making a lot of sense to me , esp. since he has went through
some tough times recently. (many fall back on past experiences
that give them security & comfort.) i am guessing, but besides
good food & service, does this club add special encounters too?

:offtopic:..do they have doggie bags?-yes ours are that special!
( and their names begin with m&m-not candy)

hope your upcoming trip , is your best yet! ( i remember when
you trying to set it up & read many times trying to help
others....however, we already spent our points. but
i think over coming obstacles eventually lead to greater rewards. )

i also thought the "magic" door opener was very special too,
" in~your~deeds!"
your input had warm feelings too share~ & "they" brought back
many great memories from the unlikely sources -the workers-
going out of their way. your inspiration & excitement..may
encourage a young guest to be the next cinderella. you are a teacher
in many ways. it reminded me- my daughter grades school teacher,
taking her experiences & created a learning program. in this situation,
it taught my daughter about some of her family connections. but
most of all, i think it's neat to take a daily routine while adding a few
special touches.

i am not a great-"great" disney fan. it isn't because i dread going to
the parks and tolerating all the crowds, :rolleyes1, i was glad when
our boys were out-growing their disney expectations. but then a
funny thing happened on the way to early retirement, we were
blessed with a lil'girl. more than being a miracle ~ she had her (dear)
grandmother's beautiful red hair. also 1oyears prior, i had made a
promise to my wife.."if disney ever build a cruise ship, i'll take you".
i never dream...

if you asked my wife, she tell how i tried every way to get
out of that promise, but she would not budge. & in those
early d~years, it was "an experience" from another family
with a lil'girl too. that precious princess: kept bugging her
mother- to ask us if she could sit by our daughter. no body
was going to tell her any difference!, she was sitting
next to the "real ariel". sure wished i took a picture of
the moment. later we had to played the crazy crt revs.
"wheel of fortune". it took us a few times, "just to figured"
what we were up against. one time, i wanted to give a
special treat for my wife. what i did ....took a autograph book,
and made it into a "baby bragged" book. i realized the
disney girls, are @ the age where they are beginning
thinking about finding their princes...& new life. the
first princess missed "the target", but the ms. snow girl
got it prefectly & they all together- "gave" the 2 most important
princesses- in my world, a royal tour.
afterwards, the snow girl whispered to my daughter ...how
lucky to have such a wonderful mother, never thinking
it came from her daddy. but the really important thing, my wife
knew. that's magic that cannot be seen but only
felt,

so , if others have different feelings/meanings for the parks,
like here- doesn't always mean someone is wrong.recently, on
the theme boards, the poster overheard some teens talking
about the "walt dude" . many felt they were missing something
but i thought he would had been happy~ that the youth of
the day, are still talking about him.

in my ways of thinking, the disney properties are a location
& in reality, can be whatever "we" make them. i am reminded
of the picture where walt watching his daughter on the pony
rides. what does it takes to find such happiness? for me , it
was my wife squeezing my hand after the "snow white"
girl gave her the very high praises.

when can one make a difference? like when a family having to
cope with a melt down? instead of staring , maybe offering a cold
drink or encouraging word? just an observation, but
i come to learn that a disney park is big enough place, to hold dreams
- no matter the size or shape or even color- & the "secret"
for making them into reality, are the "acts of kindness".

now all that above was to set the table for the following; as
i have no special disney connections, nor insider knowledge. but
sometimes, paths are crossed that makes one think-a lil' harder.
a friend @ work was very interested in our trips. she is
an adult with her own family & wanting to go to wdw.
she & her family have never went & knows less than
me. but as we talk, she spoke of her grandparents. they too ,
were never disney/park folks. however,
she had grew up listening to her grandparents' vacations and
their close friends they shared company with...walt & his family.
their pictures and their "times" spent were nothing commercial,
and are hidden treasures that they are keeping safe. memories,
family & dear friends. which i think why most are going for.
secondly, i think it is ironic that she has no idea about the
high-profile symbols , even to try for any....but actual grew up
in one, that her grandparents gave her own living room.

to me, it stuff like this that makes life amazing. and though i
am far from the expert status, i will share what i think is
the best~kept secret, the potential for pixiedust: can happen
anywhere in or around the parks..even in the lines.

Backstage Magic (now $2700) does "try" to eat at Club 33. My tour was on June 15, the exact day Carsland opened and I told my DW that our chances of having breakfast in Club 33 that day, with all the celebrities and executives around, were slim to none.

Imagine my surprise when we arrived at the Blue Bayou and ran the doorbell next door (after the Guide inputed the secret code). The door had a big 33 next to it.

So, we did breakfast at Club 33 and the tour gave you plenty of time to walk around and take in the ambiance of it and take pictures of anything we wanted (my favorite is about 10 of the tour members bending, slightly, ever so slightly, over the railing on one of the balconies in a classic Partridge Family pose). Also, the one where DW and I are on the balcony and the door is over our left shoulder.

What made it really cool, and I reference some of the previous posts here, is that all of us knew where we were and what it meant and why it was so special. None of us may have met Walt, or even lived in CA or FL, yet we were all big fans of Disney. All of us were extremely appreciative.

It is not a guaranteed stop, though and it is not mentioned in the daily schedule for Disneyland, so although your chances are good to execellent, they are not 100%. The are trip reports were Club 33 was not visited.

But, since we live near Chicago, IL, it was going to be the best chance we ever got. And, truly, that tour is so magical, not eating at Club 33 would have been a disappointment, sure, but it would not have lessened our enjoyment of the trip in anyway.

OWD

There is no secret code to get into Club 33, you simply ring the bell and the attendant will confirm your reservation. If you do not have one no admittance is allowed.
On Sunday Mickey & Pluto are there, they were very excited to see DD's birthday button (and yes, we were there on her actual 16th birthday) and made a big deal of it, she also got a free glass of sparkling cider and I received a glass of champagne.

The best answer to most club inquiries!

Or you have the people like myself, who are not on this forum everyday (or even close to that), who go to work each day, trying to bring magic into each child (and child & heart). I love what I do. I may be young, and missed out on Walt's time, but that doesn't make me any less of a Disney guru, or the sense that I am not "Disney people". I commute each day, past the nearest Disney Store, to a Store that I feel brings more magic. Because that is where I want to be. I am not just there to work (bc believe me, the pay isn't great, and gas isn't cheap), I am there bc I love what I do, I believe in the Disney brand, and I was trained to be a Disney Ambassador.
I think Jack was talking about the folks who drop into this board to ask for a reservation and then, poof, we never see them again. People who have no real, vested interest beyond Club 33 being the "cool thing" or whatever their motives. It's hard to believe anyone like that will truly appreciate an actual visit to the Club. It's why I think a "clearing house" sticky thread might be in order.

For my own opinion regarding what constitutes a guru or true Disney fan, it has little to do with post count -- though a high post count *might* be a symptom ;). Infrequent but consistent posting on this board is just as awesome as those who can stamp out a double-digit number of posts a day. It means to me that, what little time you do have, is spent doing something you love. Kind of like the destitute man donating his only penny vs. the wealthy man donating enormous sums.

A symptom....I love it.:rotfl2:

I see so many people over time post here about Club 33 and why they want to go and my impression is that many want to go and say they went or want to go for s pecial occasion but I do not get the sense they are Disney people.

You have the guru's Like HydroGuy, SkiingFast, Sherry E, and kylie 71(who can top that here at least one trip every year since 1977) just to name a few, they invest in Disneyland, not just the park but in Walts ideals, his caring for Family Fun, and his love for mankind.

I spent many hours with Walt and Lillian mainly in the Burbank studios as he used to tow me from room to room building to building try to explain to a very shy 9 year old and older thru the years. My uncle was a producer for Walt which allowed me the priledge.

I have been considered to be a very tough individual over the years, but,in two weeks, I will be having lunch again at Club 33 having been invited by two caring individuals, who push forward Walts spirit for the love of the family.I will be standing there looking at Walts picture looking out the window with tears running down my face as I walk around a look for my friends shadow joining us for lunch. I would give up a 100 visits(if it were possible to have that many) to those people who take the time everyday to help others find their way through Walts home, mine and many others.

I am sure I have left out many names, not on purpose, just getting old and things sometimes just do not pop into my head, I sincerely hope not to upset anyone...and if I could wave a magic wand and give my virtual friends the chance I would do it in a minute.

And thank you to all the members who have made many special moments come true.....A Dream is a Wish your Heart Makes...never give up on your dreams no matter how tough daily life becomes...you never know what is around the next corner..like when I got the email for an invite and please thank those "Walts Angels" for inviting you..you will never forget the experience.

Jack

PS Please forgive the spelling, grammer, etc..iphone is not the easiest to use for this..I know it is a bit sappy but that is what I am at times.

What a great story and what an amazing privilege to have met Walt :)

Maybe we'll see you up there again! Dinner on the 18th before we head back home on the 19th!

Have fun, Michael!

Wow, I didn't know that, Jack! And, apparently, never noticed the words above your picture. :)

So I know this is a long shot, but we are going down to the parks next week (Sun-Tue in the parks) to celebrate my youngest DS 7th bday (Monday). Does anybody on here have access to invite us to the restaurant? Or know anybody that does? It is a dream of mine, aka bucket list, and although he doesn't really understand the awesomeness of Club 33, he will when he is older. A lunch/dinner at Club 33 for his bday would be something to talk about for years to come.

Thank you for your help,
Have a magical trip for those of your going soon! :wizard:
Have a magical time planning for those of you planning your trips :wizard:

I noticed in your brief post about your recent trip that you were indeed able to go to Club 33 for lunch this past Tuesday, August 7th. So you asked on July 30th and someone was able and willing to get you in just a little over a week later? That is amazing!

I think I should put on my fire-proof armor (for all the normal comments that invariably come) and finally get the nerve to ask for our upcoming trip in Nov. I wonder if the pixie dust would blow a little my way? :) Or maybe I'll just keep checking my pm box. This will be our last trip for maybe a long time.

Glad you got to go.

Molly, I had an exceptional childhood from the time I was 9 until I went into the military at 19. Having an uncle who worked for Walt for many years was amazing.

That is correct, we had lunch there on August 7. It was absolutely amazing. An experience that myself, or the rest of my family, will never forget. We were also lucky enough to get a tour of the new club, 1901. My bf really liked that place & wished we could have stayed longer, but my youngest DS was getting antsy for vanilla ice cream lol :lmao:

This, as of now, was our last trip for a while too. Taking a little break to experience some other Diseny things, plan right now is cruise next year. Although you never know, the bf & I may sneak down for a quick getaway.

Here is some pixie dust for good luck for you!! pixiedust:

you take lots of pics.

First, you have to find a place to upload them. Flickr, Imgur, Photobucket, etc.

Once you have the images uploaded, most sites give you a link to the image. Once you have that link to your image, you can copy/paste it into the image tool when posting here on the boards. The image tool is this little icon you see on the posting page.

Wow. Pretty amazing!

I am guessing they didn't let you take photos of the new club 1901?
