Club 33

All kidding aside,...I further suspect that exceptions are made for a big player that wants a membership without waiting. For example, if Larry David wanted in, he'd likely get a Club 33 FastPass ;-).

Rob

There is no Club33 FP. There is a limit to the number of memberships. As soon as one drops out, the first on the waiting list is contacted and given the option to join or pass....

I know. I was kidding.
Rob

My apologies. I read your post as not kidding since that's what you said. I thought you were serious, so I replied as such.

I have a couple of prints in my office that are supposed to be hanging in Club 33.

We have had access to this for years through my husbands company but knowing how special it is we never used it. We thought our kids were just too young to appreciate it. They are teenagers now and we have planned a special birthday trip for them in three weeks and are finally going to take advantage of Club 33.

I have a few questions. We can set the reservation for lunch or dinner. For those of you who have been there, which would you choose? I am thinking dinner because of Fantasmic (it will be reopening the last two nights of our trip). Is the view good on the balcony there for the show?

I am assuming this is wheelchair accessible. Please tell me I am not wrong.

Dress code?

Are they OK with you taking pictures and sharing on a blog?

Also, just read there is Club 33 souven(ears). What is typically available? I may have the kids hold back some of their money to spend there instead.

Thanks for any advice. I have been looking forward to this for many years! :cloud9:

I have only been to the lunch buffet not dinner, but if we go at the end of the year I will try to reserve dinner. I think dinner would be more magical with all lights in New Orleans. If you cannot get dinner, lunch is a nice option too! I mean it is Club 33. :)

There is a dress code: For lunch, guests may come in fashionable casual attire in order to enjoy the Disneyland Resort in comfort. However, no tank tops, cutoffs, swimsuits, bare midriffs, sweatpants, flip flops/sandals or beachwear may be worn. Walking length shorts are acceptable. Jeans are acceptable, provided that they cover undergarments completely and are not extremely faded or torn.

If Guests have been enjoying the day in Disneyland Park, evening casual attire is acceptable for dinner. For gentlemen, collared shirts and slacks are appropriate, and for ladies an informal dress or pants with a blouse are appropriate.

Yes, you can take pictures. I took pictures and they did not mind at all. However, we went for lunch and I did not need a flash. I was discreet with my camera and tried not bother the other guests enjoying their lunch.

There are Club 33 items which are stored and sold from a cabinet. Basically items sold are polo shirts, mugs, maybe pins, etc. It is not a large cabinet, so you will need to be on the look out or you might miss it.

I had a wheelchair last time we were there because I had just had Gallbladder surgery and could not walk around very much. I just parked the chair in the lower lobby and took the lift. I think you may be able to get a wheelchair in the lift, but I am not sure. Maybe someone else will chime in.

Have a great time! Just one suggestion, the Chateaubriand is very good! :)

I second the Chateaubriand! If you'd like to splurge a bit more at dinner you could also do the 5-course prix fixe. It runs $85 plus $45 for the wine pairings at this time but is a great way to pass the time!

I wouldn't choose the dinner with a hope for viewing Fantasmic! as the viewing is pretty well blocked by the tree that's in front of the balcony. If you have an early dinner (they start serving at 5:30) you could finish by 8:30 and make it out to Rivers of America to view Fantasmic! with a much better view. Or, if your dinner is a bit later, head out for the second show!

How lucky you are! I imagine that you are paying for this excursion out of your pocket, and I'll tell you that lunch is a "better deal", but at this late a time, you might have to take whatever is available. Either meal you have to order enough food to cover the cost of admission for each person. The lunch buffet costs the same as admission to the park, Dinner is a la carte or you can order the five course Vintner's dinner at around $85pp. If you do not order enough courses to meet the minimum, they will simply add the difference to your check.

I have been to both, a friend of mine in our community concert band has made reservations for me, and (no) hosts an annual party for our band the night before our band plays at Carnation Garden.

The Fantasmic view is highly obstructed at best. There are large trees in front of the balcony, there is not a clear view of the show, but you can see a bit through the trees if you are willing to sit low and look through the balcony irons. I would not choose dinner based on Fantasmic! Dinner is fancier than lunch and the courses are more elaborate. Lunch is served part buffet style and the entree is served from the kitchen. If you're into shellfish, do the lunch, it is all you can eat prawns, crab claws and lobster tails on the appetizer bar, plus salads, lox, pate and other tasty offerings.

You can take all the pictures that you want, and your server will usually be pleased to take a picture of your party. The merchandise in the cabinet is very expensive, even more so than other shops in the disney parks. They have different merchandise all the time, and once it sells out it is usually gone and replaced with something similar but not the same.

Wheelchair accessibility depends on the ability of the person in the chair to transfer and/or walk. If the person is confined to a wheelchair someone from the staff will have to take the person in the wheelchair up in a lift, either the freight elevator or the elevator in the kitchen of Cafe Orleans. I know this because my DP rides a scooter and can't always transfer depending on her mobility levels. Someone who can walk, but uses a chair in the park can take the lift in the lobby after climbing the three or four steps.

Have fun!

Enjoy your special dinner celebration! Hopefully it will be as magical as you've imagined it would be. Please do post a report/pictures as we all love to see them.

We were at the parks this week. The outside of Cafe Orleans is all wrapped up, boarded up?? They must be fixing it up but the outside balcony of Club 33 was all covered too. I am NOT sure how you would see out at all right now. Not sure how long that will be going on, but Sun-Wed was all covered up.
Wishing and hoping I will go someday...

Thank you, thank you, thank you all for the advice. :cool1:

Sadly my husband did make a reservation for dinner but is now going to try to get it changed. Yes, we are paying it for it on our own so I am thinking lunch would be the way to go! Plus, less formal for the kids and more likely they would be happier with the seafood buffet.

All of your advice was wonderful and helped.

My ds cannot transfer up 3-4 steps. He can transfer from his chair to a regular seat so I will be prepared to take the other elevator with him.

Our confirmation packet also had the dress code info in their as well.

Hi Jack,

It was something that my husbands company sends out to anyone using it about the rules and behavior expected and so on.

It had the same dress code info as above plus all the stuff on where to pick up your tickets and find the call box

We were able to switch to a late lunch which is PERFECT.

So glad you were able to switch it. I'm going on Sunday for my birthday with a couple friends of ours who have taken us out to nice brunches/lunches before. We are treating them since it was his birthday Tuesday. I will take plenty of pictures and post them in my Dining Review, and maybe a few here in this section. I think you will enjoy the lunch a little more, espcially with children. They can pick what they want and not have to worry if they don't understand what some of the food descriptions are! :rotfl: I know I've had that problem before!

Have a great time!

I am not sure if linking is OK so if not please just delete mods. Not trying to break rules.

Here is our recap of Club33 with pics and stuff you may want to know before going.

If you really want to go to Club 33 do the following:
- Pass the California Bar exam and go to work for one of the biggest law firms in California.
- Make nice with the assistant who is incharge of the Club 33 Corporate membership.

* Trust me this is much easier than actually going on the waiting list for an individual membership!

So that's where I went wrong!!! I'm in the wrong profession. I need to find some friends in high places.

A number of us probably are. It is not so much the money, you just can not get in due to the demand.
