Club 33

We were there for dinner last night and had a great time. 9:30 reservation and we were almost the last ones out the door at midnight.

The pricing on the 5-course meal has gone up slightly (now $85) and the wine pairing has gone up to $50 since our last visit. It was a wonderful time only made more wonderful by not having to drive home after and instead heading to our studio villa at the Grand Californian!!!

I have only been to the lunch buffet, but I would love to try the dinner menu. VGC and Club 33- a wonderful combination! :)

We are lucky enough to be able to go again the first weekend in October this year and cannot wait.

Me and DP will also be at DL that weekend staying over Sat nite and the GCV!

I think we should have a thread that if a Diser has a membership, they could work out something with someone who would want to try it out. haha I'm kidding but now I'm truly curious about the whole experience.

I know someone who is a member and it's unlikely that a member would make reservations for people they don't know well. There is a $100 no show fee, I have been warned of that each time I've been lucky enough to get a reservation.

well, of all the things you can buy off ebay, you cannot buy club 33 reservations lol

This is something that they had to revise the bylaws for. When the club was formed there was no internet, and I used to see reservations for four on eBay all the time about five years ago. Someone told me that club members complained so much that they rewrote the rules to include that you could not sell, auction or barter reservations to the club.

I can't wait to do this sometime! We bought at the GCV so that we could stay there after F&W events, but I'll have to pull in a Club 33 favor sometime and stay over afterwards. What was on the Vintner's menu? I love it!

Yes!

As asked previously, "what do you get for your membership?" One other thing that my friend told me is that there are special member dinners which preview newly opening attractions, or other nights when you get to meet animators or Imagineers. They serve a 5 course meal and the person speaks about whatever is the topic for the evening. Sometimes members get to ride attractions before they are open to the public. My friend said that she has walked through both POTC and the Haunted Mansion when the rides were closed. Of course she also told me that these events cost like $150-200 per person! :scared1:

First course was a warm spinach salad with pancetta and an extremely yummy dressing. The wine was a Cambria Viognier, very light and crisp.

Second was a generous portion of a white fish. Cooked perfectly, flaky on the inside, crisp on the outside. This was paired with a Chardonnay, from WA, if I remember correctly.

Third was a New York strip steak. We asked for medium rare and it came medium rare. We have never had a bad steak at the club. The wine was a Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile; Haras was the vineyard.

Fourth was a cheese course (three cheeses) with an old-vine Zinfandel. Very bold cheeses and a hearty Zin, YUM!!!

Dessert was an apple charlotte tartin. Light, flavorful but neither of us could finish it. I don't remember the dessert wine, but a nice, not-too-sweet finish on a great meal.

If you enjoy beef but don't want the craziness of a 5-course meal, get the Chateaubriand. It is the house specialty and wonderful (IMHO).

The events are scattered through the year, usually on a Wednesday evening. There was an evening with Dean Jones at the end of January that we had hoped to be able to attend but it wasn't meant to be, I guess. They can get pricey!!! When the movie "The Haunted Mansion" came out we went with our member friend and there were many folks from the production who were there and chatted about the movie. There were some giveaways during that event and our friend won an autographed copy of a book of costume designs from the designer. She was thrilled!

We had the Chateaubriand when we were there and we enjoyed it very much; it was delicious!

The dinner sounds wonderful. Though it wasn't at Club 33, we were invited to an Oktoberfest that they had at the Festival Arena. Members could bring up to nine guests. We were greeted by the servers with trays of glass mugs full of various kinds of beers etched with the Club 33 logo, there were pretzels for appetizers, then a huge buffet of German food and an amazing array of desserts. There was an oom-pah band and we danced the chicken dance, especially with all the beer you could drink. Once the park closed we had an hour to ride the Matterhorn as many times as you wanted, but had to exit and re-enter the ride. It was loads of fun, I hope they invite us back if they do it next year!

Sounds like a great time and not to drive even better.

...they rewrote the rules to include that you could not sell, auction or barter reservations to the club.

I used to work for a non-profit organization. We held a silent auction every year at our gala event.

We had very loyal supporters, a few of whom worked for various companies that held corporate memberships to Club 33. Every year for our gala event's silent auction they would take turns having one of the company's donate reservations for lunch/dinner for 4 at Club 33 (plus the accompanying DL admission) as an auction item. The cost of the bill was also covered for the highest bidder. It always raised a great deal of money.

I remember the first year none of them could donate it anymore. They were sad not to be able to help, but said it was not allowed any longer. It allowed them to help us raise lots of money over the years.

Club 33 is special. I have never been there but its just one of those things you just know :-) Disneyland is open to the public and its amazing in itself.

I am severely jealous of all who have been there.

I get to go for the first time on April 10th! Turns out my husband's company has a membership. I never thought I would really get to go!:goodvibes

We're doing 2 days in the parks following a cruise. I'm sure these boards are the only place I could find people who understand why I'm more excited for this one meal than the cruise that precedes it!;)

You came to the right place, we totally understand! Have a magical time!

I'd love to go to Club 33 some day. I'd even settle for working there. Really would like to go on my next trip in May because it's a pretty special trip for me, but, I'm not holding my breath. I'm happy enough just to be at Disneyland.
