Hi all - I'm hoping the DL experts here can help me. I've never been to DL only WDW, I was hoping to go this summer. BUT a friend of mine won admission to dine at Club33 at a school charity auction. Because her dh doesn't quite "get it" she invited me. I would have to spend about $160 in airfare to get there - she lives locally so no hotel, car, extra food...expenses to worry about. Of course I'd have to pay my $60+ for dinner...my question is, Is it really that cool? I know I'll not have the opportunity to ever do this again, would you go? Is it silly to travel all the way there to be there for 2 days? WWYD?

thanks in advance for your thoughts:goodvibes

Its terrible and horrible, you should tell her to take me!!!!!!!!!!! :lmao:

Personally I think its up to you, but it is a rather big deal (at least to me it is). I have wanted to go for years and years and have had Zero luck. I was thrilled to get to peek in the lobby last weekend. It has a history that can't touch WDW (ok all the history at DL is AMAZING!!). DL has also got a bum rap from some WDW fans. Just because its smaller does not mean it isn't amazing. There is so many amazing things to do at DL and the best part is because it is so compact you can actually do it in a much shorter period of time.

I think it sounds like a great excuse to have a girls weekend. And again if not tell her I am a very nice person who is lovely to dine with hahaha!!

I've heard of people spending THOUSANDS just for a reservation. $160 plus food (probably another $100 or so if you have an "adult beverage" or two) sounds like a bargain to me. How soon do you have to make the decision?

Thanks for your replies. I guess I have some time to play it out...I am actually going to a wedding in Houston 2/28...so I make it a 3 leg trip and go that week...she has reservations for Monday March 3rd.

I would do it in a heartbeat!

Go for it! You will likely never get another chance, and you may regret missing the opportunity when you had it.

I had an opportunity to go about 6 years back. I got invited to something or other that was going to be held there. I was SO excited. But it was like $150 and no one would go with me (at the time I didn't want to go by myself). And my mom was kind of getting on my case about wanting to go (like it wasn't as big a deal as I was making it out to be) so I didn't end up going. I still completely regret that, because that was probably my one and only opportunity. I say you should definitely take the opportunity so you don't regret it like dumb-dumb me. Hehe.

Go! :yay: Everything I've read about Club 33 just sounds fascinating--no way would I pass up the chance to go!

We had lunch there in Oct. It was really great, I took pictures of EVERYTHING! LOL Food was wonderful, and the service was really great. It's a once in a life time experience. I sure wouldn't pass it up!

It may be a once in a lifetime shot, so...............she can take me.

We had sunday brunch there over New Years, and by all means if you have the opportunity, you should go. It is filled with tons of history, and it was an honor that I will always remember. It gave me chills to see a lithograph they had for sale of Walt having breakfast at what looked to be the exact table we had just had our brunch....

The exact person I was hoping would respond....I don't want to look at my dh at our 40th wedding anniversary and tell him I'm still resentful that he said I shouldn't go & I listened...

Thanks everyone for your responses, I'll be sure to post all about it when I get back....for now I guess i better read up on DL!!!!:yay: :yay:

I am a member. It is something you will want to try. It is very hard to get an invatation. I would not travel for it that far though.:wizard:

Can I be your new best friend buddyben???? :rotfl:

I will buy you dinner for an invite ;)

Sorry I am a total dork for Club 33, I have to say I am just thrilled to have gotten to look into the lobby so far and get a pair of Club 33 ears!!!! One day I will get in :)

Many years ago I was in the Club 33 area prior to it being Club 33 and always wanted to go back just for the memories. I will just hang on to those memories.

Since I am the friend who is taking scrappinmom, I say YES!!!!!!!!! It is going to be so incredible! And how much better to share it with a fellow Disney freak??? I have wanted to go for FOREVER! I can't believe it fell into my lap.

The sad news is, looks like DH will be home that day and will be joining us...:rotfl: I need to seriously make him read up on the history of it so he can properly understand it's coolness...

I have been there for dinner. You really should go, but if you have the choice go for brunch/lunch. The dinner food we had was really not great and very expensive, but I have heard that the lunch/brunch is wonderful. Either way it is very special to go and you need to use the restroom!

Silly Litte Pixie- Where can I find a friend like you? :rotfl:

Can I say I am surprised that some people don't think it would be worth it? Is it just because we know how tough it is to get in? Or is it because its only an hour and a half drive for me to get to the park if I could find someone to take me?
