Club 33 "Regulars" - Question about my 1st trip

Wow...I had not heard about those new rules. :sad2: I had almost worked up the courage to ask my father's friend for a reservation next year for mine and DH's 20th anniversary. But they haven't been as close lately so I have been reluctant to ask. But now I just lost my nerve again. I could not ask them to use one of their 20 bookings on us.

I am extremely grateful that he was able to get us a reservation 4 years ago for my DS's birthday, so at least we did get the opportunity to dine there once. :goodvibes

If your Dad is still friends with this contact I would absolutely 100% ask. The only 2 answers are yes or no and if you don't ask you will always regret it. Always.

Well, I heard back from my contact. They are definitely still willing to help me out, and attempt to make a reservation for us. So obviously now my hope (fingers crossed) is that 14 days out for a Monday-Thursday will still be available for the time we will be in town. (I should note that we are traveling from far away, and are constricted to a certain timeframe).

33FT

This is excellent news, I will keep my fingers crossed for you getting a reservation!

I was lucky enough to be gifted a dining experience at Club 33, in fact it was for my DD17s 16th birthday. I was considering taking her to the parks for her birthday (just the 2 of us) and when I was offered the opportunity to dine at the Club I made sure to make the trip happen. See, DD is a HUGE Disney fan and Club 33 was on her bucket list, I was able to get a reservation for Brunch ON her birthday, which was a Sunday. What that meant was I got a free glass of champagne and she got to meet Mickey and Pluto while we were eating. They made a big deal of her birthday button and it really was a great experience. I was also able to surprise her, I told her I wanted to dress nice because it was her birthday so we both wore nice denim capris with nice shirts, we went to the door where I told her I was going "to post it on FB to freak out her friends, they would think we actually ate there" and after I shot a few pictures I said "so hey, why don't you ring that buzzer for real and give them my name, see what happens". She said "Mom, no, they will kick us out!" I said "will they? I really think you should ring the bell and give them my name", she said "Mooommm?????" and I said "Cass, ring the bell" and she said "Oh.My.God." and rang the bell. LOL The lady came to the door and she gave them my name, the lady opened the door and said "welcome" I thought she was going to faint. LOL It was amazing. She cried, for real, tears of joy and excitement. It's one of my favorite memories ever and we still talk about it. :) She always says I'll never be able to beat that gift and I say I know and I'm not even going to try. I only have that memory due to the generosity of someone I've never met IRL, someday I hope to but I do hope that person knows how very much it meant to us and still does to this day. :)
I hope you have the same amazing experience OP and have the memories for years to come. :)

I know it's not... proper... But I kind of hate Club 33. Like every other Disney fan out there, I would love beyond words to be able to have such a special and exclusive Disney experience. While I'm so happy for the people who get to have those memories, I'm also willing to own that I'm really jealous.

I was at California Adventure yesterday and walked past a Club 33 event. All these people were lining up with big black envelopes and walking into a lavish hall. I am so grateful for the wonderful life I have, and how blessed and lucky I am... But I'm still super jealous of all you Club 33 members and guests! It all sounds so amazing!

Any tidbits you can share?
New merchandise. They are allowing members to order now, with delivery using RSP. Some items are a limited edition. New pins, pillows, wine glasses, latte mugs, jackets...

Food - They sampled a short rib, corn chowder, crab salad type thing. All was very good, but nothing we haven't seen at Napa. Was hoping for something different.

Drinks - Pimm's Cup, various wines, summer punch, sparkling cider.

Introduced Mary Niven as the new VP of DIsneyland. Introduced the various new management, introduced the new chefs, showed pictures of the new kitchen.

They showed a lost Oswald cartoon (Oswald and the Hungry Hobo) with music. Then gave everyone the new Lion King Legacy Collection that goes on sale June 24th. Explained the opening date, explained a new preview date just before opening.

The big envelopes had their new annual passes. The lavish hall? Stage 17 where they hold "Dancing with Disney."

Why jealous at all? That emotion, like envy, is for the weak in my opinion.
Jealous of paying a high premium to become a member, that in return pays a high price for a meal?
Maybe one day I will have the opportunity to dine at Club 33. But if that does not occur, I am good with it too. If it is that important to you to dine there, I hope that you will be able to do so in the near future. But in the meantime, please do not be jealous of others, it is such a waste of energy and emotion. :flower3:

It depends on what you do with said jealously... if you just sit there and be jealous, sure, a waste. If you take that as motivation to call you to action in some way, it can be a powerful tool to drive you to get what you want.

Back in the day, when you saw someone who was successful, you would admire them and while you may have been jealous, you could aspire to do what they did to get where they did.

Fast forward, and today when people see successful people they think those people must have got what they have through illgotten or "unfair" means and they call for penalization or redistribution of what they have.

I absolutely love this story!!! :goodvibes The look on her face must have been priceless!!!

Awe! I just love this story! How awesome :goodvibes

Good for you for being able to admit that, and not hating on those that have the opportunity (I'm right there with you). Takes a big person to admit jealouse and still be thankful for what they do have.

Thanks for understanding what I was trying to get at!

I'm not sitting stewing in my own juices, or even shaking my fist at the world that there are people who will have things I never will (I really am happy for them, I would never begrudge anyone their happiness!). And I do appreciate what I have. But I still hear about Club 33 and wish I could experience it, too.

What is RSP?

Any pics of the new logoed stuff?

Sounds yummy...

Drinks - Pimm's Cup, various wines, summer punch, sparkling cider.
Also yummy sounding.

That's pretty amazing. Was it a personal introduction, or as the group?

Neat perks, and curious what they explained about the opening date/preview.

You have your opinions, I have mine. Jealousy and envy are for small minds in my opinion. And is a waste of time, energy, life.
I have far greater goals in life, than dining at Club 33.
RSP means random selection process. It's like a lottery system for purchasing merchandise.

What is RSP?
Like was said, it is a randomizer for selection. For example, if they have a limited item, and only have 200 (example only) and 500 people want to buy it, it is a lottery of who gets it. It is a lot more in depth than that, but that is the basics. Makes it fair for all.

Any pics of the new logoed stuff?
Not from me, but if you search the web, they are probably there. I saw many people standing by the "No photography" sign taking pics.

That's pretty amazing. Was it a personal introduction, or as the group?
For the chefs, they introduced each of the 3 main chefs (Chef Justin M. is Chef de Cuisine, Chef Frankie from Napa, and Chef Chin from I think Napa), and each spoke. Ms Niven spoke for a few, as did a few of the new management persons.

Neat perks, and curious what they explained about the opening date/preview.
When it was, what to expect, etc...

Thanks Malcon10T and all of the others. I was at opening day 1955, I had an uncle who worked for Walt and I was invited to the "HOT" opening day that I will never forget. I was nine at the time.
Even though I had the privledge to spend many hours with Walt and Lillian at that age, never really sunk in to I got older.

One day after posting on here I received an email from a member who had asked if I wanted to go........WOW what a shock. Really never expected in anyway.
We went on the invite and have gone a few times since with my kids and their BF's but I will always and forever be grateful to the benefactor who thought it might be important to me......ME

I hope when the time comes that we may return again, I hope I have the privledge to look inside and see what was done. So grateful.

I will always cherish my memories of Walt and Lillian many years ago, and the animators at BBS. To bad Walt never realized his dream. Would have loved to see his face.

If you get the opportunity, please take it. Magic and pixie dust do happen!!

Jack

Almost all of the new merchandise has the new logo on it. I am still waiting to like the new logo but it hasn't happened yet. I do like the glass that just says Club Thirty-three on it...not that it matters, since I can't order anything anyway :rotfl:

I am an avid Disney Fan, go to Disney World at least twice a year, my first trip to Disney world was in the summer of 1972, that is when my love of Disney parks began. I didn't get to Disneyland until I was over 50 years old and it was for a business trip, but when I got there is was like a dream come true, I felt the presence of Walt and walked around and cried tears of joy!
I have always wanted to dine in Club 33, but I do not know of anyone that is a member, so as much as I believe in miracles and pixie dust I'm not too positive that it will happen for me.
I am going back to Disneyland this January 2015, and this time with my husband and son, who neither have been there, I hope maybe some pixie dust will fall on me and we get a reservation somehow!!!
faith, trust, and pixie dust..... spoken by my favorite Disney Character....

With the new limit of only 20 non-member accompanied reservations, it's going to be hard :(

Wow I'm even more grateful for the chance I had to done there in December. While I would love the chance to try out the new refurbs there I will cherish the memories I have!

Spotted at GCH last Monday.
Even hamsters can be Club 33 "Regulars" :goodvibes
