No, we're not members of Club 33 - at least not yet. After nearly 5 years of waiting, we just received our letter of invitation and have ten days in which to make our decision.
We have questions:
We have been told that they will issue the membership in only one name not two. So when the 'member' expires, the partner is out of luck. The estate just lost value. In the general scheme of things, it would seem best to make the younger partner the member, but people get hit by buses every day, regardless of age. This seems rather a gamble with the initiation fee and all.
Also, if only one member of the couple is a member, every time the couple visits Disneyland, they would have to dine at Club 33 to enjoy free entry for both. If the Club didn't have a reservation spot open, they couldn't visit the park. This doesn't seem right. Why be forced to maintain an annual pass for one of the partners when paying the rather hefty annual fees for the Club?
Are there any members out there who are married/partnered and have only one official member? As registered domestic partners we have all the rights and responsibilities of married couples - including Family Law Court for dissolutions and joint state income tax returns. Just curious whether the nature of the couple affects the membership.
Please post or PM me with your experience.
