Clothing question

we're doing a land and sea over Xmas. I was going to bring along a couple pairs of shorts, but have decided that I could probably get away with just packing jeans and swim trunks. Jeans would be for the WDW portion and on the ship at dinner and stuff. Do I really need to pack shorts or will swim trunks do? I thinking will be cool enough for jeans in December.

I don't know where you're from, but as the PP said, Orlando can easily feel like summer in December. I went to a New Year's Day football game there and about sweated to death (and I'm from GA and generally used to hot weather). I'd bring at least one pair of shorts or at least be prepared to buy some when you land!!

Late fall and winter in Orlando can go from around 27 to 85.

Still not over December 2010. Or January 2014. Or January 2015 for that matter. (And February 2015 had at least one colder day than what wr dealt with the month before)


Don't pack just shorts and jeans. December in Orlando and on a cruise can see alllll sorts of weather.

In a single winter week at WDW, we went from shorts/t-shirts/sweating/carrying overheated children - to pants/layers with jackets/carrying freezing children to warm them up - to somewhat mild temps w/downpours. Be prepared for anything! fwiw, we were fine in shorts in the Bahamas and Key West over New Year's week this year, and we live in Phoenix. I can't say we're normal for Phoenix residents. But I mostly used the light sweater I brought inside. The theaters seemed far colder to me than out on deck. It was pretty hot on land when in port, too.

The farther south you go, the warmer the weather. We were freezing in Orlando but sweating in some of the ports.

We've found sometimes that, while the air temperature is supposed to be in the high 70's or low 80's at Castaway Cay in December, with the wind it feels like mid- to high-60's. So we typically make sure that we have some long pants, lighter than jeans, to wear there plus on the ship at night it can feel cold. I also find the theatres and MDRs cold.

Definitely bring the shorts. I live in Orlando and wear shorts regularly throughout December. And as a pp said, some of the island ports will definitely be warmer.
