Ok, I am starting some packing lists already, and I am hoping for some input...for DH and I, here is our clothing list- what do you think? (oh, it's a 5 day trip, btw)

2 pairs of jeans
1 long sleeve t-shirt
5 short sleeve t-shirts
1 sweatshirt
1 zip up jacket
5 pairs of shorts
socks/underwear/etc
2-3 pairs of pajamas
1 bathing suit
1 pair of sneakers (plus wear one)
1 pair of flip-flops
1-2 hats

For Ds, who will be 2, I thought pretty much the same, except maybe add another sweatshirt and maybe another long-sleeve shirt or two to keep him a little warmer.

Do you think this is enough?

Lisa,
It looks like you are packing well rounded.
We usually go to WDW at the end of November beginning of december and typically it in the 60-70's during the day and cooler at night.
I usually bring more pants than shorts. I also bring more warmer clothes for my 2 girls than shorts.
Where are you staying? Most of the hotels have a place to do laundry. We stay at OKW and I have a washer and dryer in the room so I usuall pack 1/2 of what we need.
Remember the nights are cooler, we have had it where it was in the 30's at night so keep that in mind. Also what I do is check the weather channel or go online for the 10 day forcast, not that they are always correct but at least it gives me an idea of what temperatures to expect.

By the way I am glad to see I am not the only one thinking about what I am going to pack in December.
When are you going? We are going 12/2-12/10.

Thanks for your input, Lisa- I am thinking of planning a surprise trip for DH and Ds and I, and I am looking at Dec 9-14. We have only ever gone in June since DH is a teacher, so I am not sure what to pack for December weather! I think I need a bigger suitcase :rotfl: . This will be DS first trip, so I just think it might be better with less crowds, and just magical with everything decorated for Christmas.

Lisa,

I have to tell you the crowds in the past have been lighter and the decorations are beautiful. The parks do close earlier than in the summer but it is also darker by 5pm.
Enjoy your trip in the summer!

The last 2 years that I was at WDW in December, I lived in t-shirts, juicys and a light weight WDW jacket or if it got REALLY cold a t shirt and a heavy WDW jacket:), rather than wear a sweatshirt because some rides would be really hot inside and I could just take my jacket off,
also earmuffs and mittens came in handy somedays.

we were there December 4-18th in December of 2002. We had only a couple of nice days, the rest were very rainy, windy, and cold. I lived in the lined raincoat that I purchased from LandsEnd. I had also purchased ohne for my grandson. Sure wish I had bought ones for the rest of our family. We were warm, comfortable, and dry! This took the place of a windbreaker, sweatshirt, jacket, and coat.

When we were there in early December we did fine in shorts and t-shirts with a sweatshirt over it until it warm a little in the morning. At night, the kids usually put their sweatshirts back on when it got breezy.

You're smart to bring a little bit of everything. Chances are you'll be fine with a sweatshirt or windbreaker but you just never know about the weather.

We were there this past December 17-26 (and are from Wisconsin and can most definately handle the cold) and the temps were in the low 40s and high 30s quite a few of the nights. I even have a picture from MK where my DD has on a sweatshirt and jacket with hood up as well as gloves and this was during the day. When you go at this time of year I would say to pack a good variety of clothes. It can be hot and it can most definately be cold.

My family went this past Dec. I really kept a close eye on the weather before we left. I used the weather channel website and it did a pretty good job. I packed all the basics ahead of time, but as the date got closer, I was able to have a better idea what to pack. Don't forget the idea of packing your son's outfits in baggies so they are all put together! It was a wonderful time saver in the morning with my two younger children!

It was very cold the first day we arrived. We all wore gloves in the evening and ds 3, had on mittens and a hat all day. 4 days later when we left, we were wearing shorts!

Happy planning!

We were there this past Christmas. We packed sweatshirts, etc. It wasn't enough! IT WAS COLD with the wind chill factor and the dampness of the slightly rainy Christmas day it felt like about 40 degrees. Who knows...just make sure you have enough warm "stuff" !!!

December is so tough to plan for in Florida. We've been over Christmas the last few years. Two years ago we were in shorts and tee shirts all day and in the pool with the kids in the evening and had only one evening and one morning where we added a sweatshirt over the tee shirts. This past Christmas the shorts never came out. We had to buy my husband, my daughter and SIL hats and mittens and a beach towel to use as a blanket in the stroller for the kids while we were at the AK the day after Christmas!

We have gone the week after Thanksgiving the last 2 years. 2 years ago, I was wearing a fleece lined winter coat and gloves at MVMCP. Last year at MVMCP I was comfortable in just jeans and a t-shirt. December weather really varies.

I would check accuweather.com prior to your trip to get an idea on the weather and then go from there. They usually have a 14 day forecast.
