Clothes packing question

I'm trying to figure out what to pack. What an undertaking! I have a bunch of short/t's sets packed for my 3 DDs (8,5,2) but I'm wondering what the Poly is like in the room. ?? I know you can set the temperature but you know how some rooms either don't get cool enough no matter how high you have the air set or they're freezing if you have the air on low. Can't decide what to pack for sleeping and hanging out in the rooms. Also, I know to take a sweater for them for the restaurants. Does anyone know about the air and/or have any more packing suggestions? Thanks so much.

We stayed at the Polynesian in August of 2001. We found the room to be freezing no matter what. Cold & a bit damp, I'm afraid. It was so cold in the room, every time we walked outside, DH's glasses & the camera lenses would fog up. I wound up buying a set of long-sleeve, long pant pajamas for sleeping.

I also have 3 DD's (15,10,10) and we have never had a problem keeping the hotel room comfortable for sleeping and hanging out. My girls all just wear their usual summer PJ's in the room and as long as they have a sweater that they can put on just in case it has always worked out. One thing I would suggest is a pair of slippers or slip on shoes for wearing in the room. I have this thing about bare feet on those carpets - we've experienced everything from staples to dirt to ants. It doesn't matter what hotel it is you just can't tell what's under your feet (I guess I'm a little strange?!?!) We also pack at least 3 bathing suits each because they always want to swim at least 2 different times per day and it is no fun putting on a damp bathing suit (they take forever to dry). We also make sure that each girl has her own rolling bag to put all of her souvenirs and "stuff" in so that it doesn't end up spread all over the place. That's all I can think of right now. Hahaha!!! I thought I was the only one that does this! For some reason, I always wear sandals in a hotel room...even if we stay at a Westin or W hotel. Call me crazy but that's just me...

Trust me you are not strange at all! In high school and college I've worked at 3 different 5 star hotels and even their housekeeping policies sickened me! First off, the hotels only provide their workers with ONE set of gloves for cleaning bathrooms! So guess what? If there is something like hepatitis B on the toilet seat of one bathroom, there is a risk of it rubbing off your gloves in the next bathroom and the guests there getting it! I always made sure to bring my own bleach to work b/c I was seriously paranoid (and rightfully so) about this risk and would spray my gloves between each room, but most housekeepers did NOT do this! And the floors...The bathroom floors are hardly ever cleaned. A friend of mine has done housekeeping at Disney so I have found from her experience, that their housekeeping is no different than the kind I experienced. If I took 25 minutes to do a room you better believe my supervisor was in there yelling at me. This meant that she frequently told me to not clean the bathroom floors because it was a waste of time. If I tried to vacuum when there was not visible material on the floors (crushed chips, etc.) I also would get in trouble for it. My friend who did Disney houskeeping experienced the same problem. It was not tht either of us were taking an inordinate amount of time to clean, but simply that they wanted us to whip through rooms in 15 minutes so we could get to about 18 in a 7 hour shift. So for those of you who wear socks everywhere and do little things like spray your toilet when you come, your very smart and protecting yoru family. You never know if your hotel has policies like the ones that I worked at.

A good hotel with nice cleaning policies (AKA Mandatory different gloves for every room, mandatory vacuuming b/w rooms, etc.) is the HOliday Inn. I thought I'd throw that in for you guys to ponder.

Thanks for the tips; I'll take a summer pair of pjs and will have a pair of sweats and long-sleeve shirt for each of them just in case. Also, the rolling bag for each is a good idea. And I will DEFINITELY be bringing my own Clorox wipes to do the bathroom, floor, phone and doorknobs. YUCK. Hadn't even crossed my mind to take slippers but sounds like a really good idea. Thanks!
