Hoping I can get an answer without having to spend money on a repairman

My dd and I have long hair but have recently noticed this problem. When we dry our clothes in the dryer our hair that has fallen out will dry up in a ball and it happens to stick into certain clothes. I mean some of the hair will go through the fabric and a pain to get out. I clean out the dryer thingy on top where all the lent builds up. We had longer hair when we first got the dryers and this never happend. Is there another vent in the back that needs to be cleaned out? Would dh be able to fix this issue or will we need to call someone? Is this a sign that out dryer will soon need to be replaced?

We have a whirlpool gas dryer. We've had it for almost 13 years -Feb or March will be 13 years. Thanks

Do you use Dryer sheets?
I have to get the non-scented one's, but they usually work and the hair goes to my lint screen.

I would also suggest cleaning out the dryer vent. There are brushes for this purpose.

Yes i use the dryer sheets. I use the same ones i did when we bought the dryer. I use scented ones.

Is the dryer cent on top of the dryer . It the pull out thing that collects the lent? Dh bought one of those sanke type brushes that goes down the lent thing.

This is also happening to us. I didnt think it was a big deal to just pull the hair off and throw it away :confused3

it wouldnt be but i shred a lot of hair plus dd's hair to. Some of it it no big deal peeling off butwhen it gets thorugh some of the fabric its time consuming when it several pieces of clothing. Plus its just been happening in the last year.

I was thinking the same thing.

4 of the 5 of us have very long (waist or longer length) hair. I only use the dryer in the winter and the kid's footie pajamas always wind up with a ball of hair under the sleeves. We always joke about their hairy armpits and I just yank the hair out while folding.

I'm assuming the OP is irritated because she wasn't having the hair issue until now.

ETA: Actually, I sometimes hang the footie pajamas to dry and I still sometimes get the bunches of hair stuck to them even as they come out of the washer. Maybe it's just the hair and not an issue with the dryer?

In addition to the removable lint screen there is also a dryer vent to the outside. That can become clogged with lint and/or hair and should be cleaned periodically to avoid a fire. Most overlook this.

Thank you. This is good to know. I know it has to be clogged. You should see the bottom of my vaccum cleaner. The brushed get full of hair. Each time i vaccum I have to clean all the hair. I get a HUGE handful glob of hair-yuck! The only reason i know about vaccums is because when i lived with my sis she had two chow dogs plus me, we ended up clogging her vaccum. When they tried figuring out why it wasnt working BIL noticed all the hair-lol!
