I have read several posts here about new DVC members who purchased directly from Disney and were surprised that they had already closed on their contracts. What got my interest was that their original closing date was the same as mine. My question is, how does one know for sure that they have already closed? Does somebody notify you or is there something you can look at on dvcmembers.com that gives you a clue?

I recall seeing a thread on here somewhere with a link where you can check the County Recording records.

My guide actually called me and let me know.

We were down on vacation and he left a voicemail on our room phone welcoming us home and letting us know we had actually closed 2 days prior.

You will be mailed a copy of your deed after it is recorded.

When you buy direct from Disney isn't the closing date just a formality? You can make reservations almost immediately and they start charging dues from the day you sign the papers.

Yes, I believe that is the case. In my particular example, since I bought at the new section of AK, the 2008 points aren't available until May 2009 and the dues don't start until then either.

I called member services and they told me the closing date. It took about a week after that for my deed to be posted on the OCC website.
