We are thinking of adding on a small contract & are wondering if we should go through Disney or The Timeshare Store.

Right now I can get the points through Disney. (we're only looking at 25 or 50) The price I was given includes everything - there are no additional fees.

We purchased our original contract through The Timeshare Store & an additional add-on through Disney, but I can not remember what the closing costs were through The Timeshare Store.

Dose it depend on the # of points you purchase or is it one flat fee?

Thanks for your help!

Closing costs will be around $400. I generally budget the greater of $400 or $2.00 per point. The smaller contracts are almost impossible to purchase at a price low enough to come in under Disney direct once closing costs are added in. Maybe it would be worth bidding with seller paying closing costs.

Waiting on 100 points BWV (currently in ROFR), closing is $425.

It is not a flat fee and is dependant on the number of points- although there is a minimum closing fee. The broker can advise on the closing costs for the contract you're interested in.

Good luck! :)

We did a 60 point add-on via resale and the closing costs were $400. or so--I think you can count on that as a minimum amount. The only thing that made it worth it for us was we got an extra 120 points banked; we came out about even vs. going through Disney but due to the closing time hassle, next time I would skip resale and go direct for a smaller add-on.

Thanks all - I think it will work out better to go right through Disney with such a small add-on. :)

We were in the same boat Melsmice. We did our small add-on through Disney (50 pts) while our original contract was through resale. It seems as though the smaller contracts are priced higher per point to begin with on the resale market. But, if a seller really needs to sell, perhaps they would be willing to split closing costs.
