Closing Costs through Disney - Negotiable?

I was quoted a $104 per point with no closing costs for the BCV from Disney last year. I am not a DVC member. The Guide told me that there were no closing costs. I am getting ready to buy BLT and there are closing costs of around $245. Is that normal for a new purchase from Disney? Has anyone tried to negotiate or ask/demand that the closing costs be waived? Just thought I'd ask. I'm calling at the end of the week to put down a deposit.

Thanks, this is my third post and everyone has been really helpful.

DVC now charges new members closing costs on their first purchase. I don't think it's negotiable. But you $245 is lower than it costs to purchase a resale.

DVC use to pay all the closing costs for new members. Now they pay part of the closing costs and the buyer pays part. Not sure but I think it's around 50-50 since $490 sounds about right for the full closing costs and you have to pay $245.

If buying resale, the buyer will generally pay all the closing costs.

Once you are a member, if you purchase any add-on contacts directly from Disney, currently they (DVC) pay all the closing costs. Of course, this may change in the future.

I think that if you bought BCV even as a new member you would still have no closing costs, because there weren't any when BCV was being sold. It seems that's what my guide told me. It didn't pertain to me anyway, since mine was an add on, but she said there weren't any closing costs to buy BCV. Cost for BCV is still $104, just bought some this week.

Our guide old us there were no closing costs on sold out resorts. We bought at BCV earlier this year (new members) and didn't have any closing costs.

The above is correct as I understand it. NO closing costs on sold out resorts though they could charge them in the future if they so chose. DVC does not negotiate. You might get a couple of free tickets or something along those lines your guide could run down but the price, closing, etc are set. I think that's one good thing about buying directly from DVC, you know what you get and know that the person who bought next to you had the same prices on the table as yourself.

DVD uses closing costs as an additional revenue item. Sold out resorts don't sell as well direct so they don't charge closing costs as an additional enticement.

Charging $245 now for new contracts is another way of making additional profit without any resistance from new buyers.
