Forgive as I'm sure this has already been asked but...Headed to DLR this week and was kind of sad to see the early closing times. Can anyone shed some light for me? thanks

That sounds crazy. Surely they will adjust this as it gets closer.
If Vegas took bets on DL, I would say this is wrong and also that the Pirates rehab will take three times longer then predicted. :)

I am guessing they think it is going to be a less busy week. For example, I am going the 6th til 10th- every single room at the GCH is booked and only one room type is still available at the DLH. The comparable dates for the week of the 18th, every room type (except suites) is available at both GCH and DLH. May have to do with most APs being blocked starting that week. Can see it being disappointing to close early, but hopefully you will benefit from the low crowds. And if the crowds do become large all of a sudden, Disney could extend the hours.

I'd say its a mistake or poor planing. It will probably end up closing at 11pm on weekdays and 12pm on the weekend.

Depends on day of week. Thats why i always look at that before going, since it can be a few hours difference day to day.

Wow... I've been doing Christmas time Disneyland visits for the past 20 years and never remember ever having shortened park hours anytime from Thanksgiving through Christmas... It's always absolutely insanely packed all winter IME

I started planning a 3-day trip for Monday Dec. 17-19 thinking for sure everything will be up and running, and am now pretty shocked to find not only are park hours way shortened, but Fantasmic won't even be running... So disappointing

we will be there that week also, and part of me is happy thinking the crowds might be a lot lower? We were able to get a really good package trip, even a week ago when I was looking the prices were not that low, then all of the sudden there they were. And good offers for Canadians on park tickets.... maybe when more people like me decide the price is finally right things will start booking up and hours will be extended.

Since the 12/17 is Sunday, Fantasmic! should be running and I think the park is open until midnight. The rest of the week does have short hours and no plans for F! M-Th. DH and I will be there beginning the 19th, and we're hoping Disney knows what they're doing and that the crowds will be low enough to compensate for the short hours: we were excited to have the park open from 8-12 when we first picked our dates.

Yeah that would work great planning a last minute trip but when traveling a distance to go and booking months out doesn't work lol

I was surprised to see our hours the same 9-9 the week after thanksgiving, so hoping they are right with low crowds.

I was really surprised when I tried to book a Fantasmic dining package for the the 21st and finding out there was no F! during the week. I am used to that in January/February...but the week before Christmas?

Schools aren't out yet, so it is still off peak. From the 23rd on, hours will go up, attendance will go up, and entertainment will increase.

I'm wondering if they think it will be lower crowds because almost all the AP's are blocked. I am curious about the data behind their decisions: how many people have each of the AP types, how many have come at Christmas, how many non-AP guests have come that week, etc.

Yet every crowd calendar that I look at has capacity at a 9/10. Is this the first year for the reduced hours the week before Christmas?

If I remember correctly its been the same the week before the holidays before but crowd calanders still say its packed.

Lets hope they update the hours for ya :)

Yeah, I am sure it has to do with the APs. As it seems in general this year, people have been reporting much lower crowds when many APs are blocked. Also the Disney hotels are nowhere near fully booked that week either. I am going the first week of December, and knew it would be busy, but even scarier when I look for rooms and see NONE are available at the Disney hotels the days I am going.
