Closest Resort to Port Canaveral?

Going on a cruise but want to stay at a Disney Resort the night before. What't the closest resort?

And they offer free parking while you're on the cruise and a shuttle to the port. It's about a mile from the boats...you can see them from the parking lot.

All of the Disney resorts will be about an 1 1/2 hours from the port (depending on traffic). Not a bad drive at all but won't matter which on-property resort as it would be just minutes difference in total. We stayed at the Ron Jon last year at the port. Nice condo type hotel, fun litle water park type pool and only about 5 minutes from the dock. Check out the cruise board for LOTS of info about the Disney cruise. We LOVED every minute of the vacation! Going back next summer!

Oh sorry, I didn't read the Disney Resort part. All the resorts are going to be about the same distance to the ports, give or take a few minutes. It's going to be about an hour ride to the ship. I'd really recommend staying closer to the cruiseship the night before...

I'm afraid there are no Disney resorts, with the exception of DVC resorts, outside the immediate Orlando area. The closest DVC resort to Port Canaveral would be Vero Beach, which is a pretty long drive from Port Canaveral. Your best choices are to a) do what the above poster mentioned and stay in a nice Cape Canaveral area resort, or b) stay in a Disney resort in Orlando and drive over to Port Canaveral the next day. It's about an hour and 15 minute drive over to Port Canaveral from Disney.

If you are flying into Orlando... there's absolutely NO reason NOT to stay at a Disney resort. I've done it three times now... and we've stayed at the Beach Club, AKL, and CR. Depending on when it is you're sailing... we did spring break for our most recent... traffic ISN'T all that bad to the port. Especially if you are an early bird like us. We got up, had breakfast at Chef Mickeys, attended Easter Mass, and got in the car and drove away. It took UNDER an hour to get to the port, and that's without speeding (too much)... didn't want to get arrested and miss the boat!
