Closest (non-DTD) Hotels to DTD

What hotels are within walking distance or a short cab ride to DTD? (We can't stay at a DTD hotel, because we travel with a pet.) If I can put together a list of possible hotels, I can check to see if they're pet friendly. We'll only be staying one or two nights to go to the Comedy Warehouse & Adventurers Club before they close. Thanks in advance for your help.

PS: I already have the Sheraton Safari on the list.

Thanks We're more concerned about distance than pet friendly. My DH will probably want a drink at the AC, & won't want to drive. If the hotels are close, I can check to see if they allow pets. If they're not w/i a very close proximity, we don't want to stay there whether they are pet friendly or not. I'll check out the Comfort Inn.

We have walked from the Comfort Inn to DTD before, it was a far walk, but we walked it. I beleive it was around $10 for a cab ride to PI and back as well.

Does the Sheraton allow pets? I didn't think they did. If it didn't matter about pets, there is the one with the Pineapple on the side of it by the Convient Care Center on SR 535 before you get to the Sheraton. I can't remember the name of it. I stayed there before they changed names too..
It is opposite Burger King if anyone knows the one I am talking about. Help me here... We just always called it the Pineapple Hotel... I want to say it was the DoubleTree years ago, but it has changed names. That one would be the very first one that you would hit outside of DTD on SR 535.

Then there is another one just at the corner when you exit I-4 , it use to be a dumpy Days Inn. It is now completly renovated and I want to say it is a Renisance... it is right at the light on SR 535, that one would be the same walking distance as the Sheraton Safari... and I think the Sheraton would be quieter since it is not just off I-4.

Embassy usually are not pet friendly.. not sure about La Quinta. I see from the link on this board that it does say Embassy though. Here is a link that I have that lists all hotels. I honestly did not check what is and isn't on it. I keep it in the event I have to flee for a hurricane.. I only know of the few off the top of my head like I said, the Comfort Inn.. and all the Universal .. but you wanted close to DTD...

I was leaning toward Sheraton Safari, but have found the Comfort Inn LBV - Family Fun Suite for $59/ night during our dates. (I'm not sure, if the family suites are pet friendly or not.) Should we book this one? Any positives or negatives from those who have stayed there? Thanks again for all your help.

I have stayed at the Comfort Suites several times but never in the family fun suite. I can tell you that the rooms are a hit and miss. I have gotten really nice rooms and then once the room was totally unacceptable! On the average, I can't complain. I would stay there again. The price is usually good, the location is great & they do have free breakfast (gets very crowded). They have free internet in the lobby but you do have to pay for it in the room. I like the fact that the rooms have a fridge and microwave. I am not sure if all the rooms do, but every room I have ever gotten did. One thing I would ask for is one that over looks the parking lot, not the pool! The pool over looks I-4 and can get loud from traffic. I have never taken my pets there, but this is a place that I would take them if I were to travel with them. I usually just have someone watch mine since I have so many... I would need 3 rooms just for my dogs!

Don't book for that price (unless the family fun suite is significantly different than a 'standard' room) - do a search on Comfort Inn and you will see a thread from about a month ago that had a link (on Spirit airlines site) to get this hotel for $9 the first night and $49 each additional night. I'm staying there for 2 nights in November and the total is coming to $34 per night including taxes! So make sure to look for this.

We only have one. She's a mini-doberman, who is totally spoiled rotten. We usually stay at HRH, but want to be closer to DTD for such a short visit. We're staying at the Dolphin in Oct for the F&W fest. Obviously, w/o her. I'm not sure how that's going to work out. It's not easy to find someone to watch her, & she's never been to a kennel. When we've gone on longer trips, we've driven her to NC to stay with my sister. Yes, that's as crazy as it sounds. I wish we had a good sitter she likes.

Thanks for the tip. I'll look it up. We're taking our DS's girlfriend, so we need an extra bed or a cot. The family suites have a queen size bed & bunk beds. Your rates sounds much better though.

I have a really good friend that watches my dogs. Her DD is now 22 and has started her own business pet sitting. So when I go away, if all of us go, which isn't often, they will both do it, her and her DD. They do me for free They will come over 4 times a day and stay anywere from 30-60 minutes each time. My dogs love them. My dogs actually grew up around them and know them well. Her DD also is one of the vet techs at my vet now too.. so we try to set our appointments up when she is working so the dogs are more comfy going. When we had to put Lightning down, the actually came over to help me bring him. We took him to the back yard of the office and did it in the grass where he liked to play. The vet came outside for us. It was almost as if we had a "service" for him. Lightning was like a part of their family as well. They had known him since he was a pup, nearly 14 years!

Orlando Vista Hotel - 12490 S Apopka Vineland Rd

SR 535 is very very close to DTD. (within a 1/2 block from entrance) Used to be a Days Inn. They advertise a $50 per stay pet fee and rooms at around $70.

A little further down 535 is Buena Vista Suites. They allow pets and they have a very nice hotel with suites around $89-109. Very clean, nice hotel. Free full breakfast.

We're staying at the Hyatt, seems as close as the Sheraton Safari to DTD from maps, tho am not sure if it's pet friendly
