Extended Stay America has kitchens. You can walk across the street and into the Toy Story Parking lot to hop on the bus. It's at Clementine and Katella.
I am currently staying at the Homewood Suites on Harbour Boulevard. I can't say enough wonderful things about this hotel and would recommend it to anyone. It isn't in walking distance (well it's about 1 mile away) but they have a great shuttle option which has worked great for our family.
There is a full kitchen in our room - fridge, stove, microwave and dishwasher. The room is truly a suite with a kithen/living room and then a separate bedroom.
They have a very nice complimentary breakfast (everyday) and dinner (Sun-Thurs). We took advantage of both which helped save a little moolah.
The rooms are clean. The beds are soft and my head just melts into my pillow.
The hotel staff is like nothing I've ever experienced and I have traveled a lot for work. They are beyond friendly and bend over backwards for any request. Here are a few examples:
We had made a reservation for a character breakfast for first thing in the morning. It was questionable if the shuttle would be able to get us there on time. The staff recommended a service which had a flat rate to the park. That evening when we returned the recognized us when we were walking in and confirmed that everything went smoothly in the morning and that we made it on time. I'm sure they see hundreds of guests each day but he remembered us and our need.
Everyone chips in during the breakfast and light dinner (with a smile on their faces). Even the General Manager is wiping down tables and taking garbage. All the while with a smile on his face. Personally I think it says a lot when someone in charge does the same work as his staff. Shows he doesn't think he is above it all.
Everyone greets us as we enter or leave the hotel. Not just a hello but they engage you and make you feel like you are coming home. They ask if we went to the park or ask my son what his favorite rides were or if he saw characters.
The cleaning staff rocks - even placing my sons personal blankets and stuffed animals on the bed. Room is always in great shape when we get back.
The manager has asked us during breakfast if we will be back for naps on the afternoon - if we are he would take our room number and move it to the priority list for the cleaning staff.
Now I want to say that I thought this hotel rocked regardless of this but this was the icing on the cake. Today was my sons 3rd birthday. When we got back to our room there was a gift basket from the hotel staff filled with stuffed animals and candy and a card that was signed individually from the staff. Just above and beyond.
I seriously can't say enough about this experience. I strongly recommend the Homewood. Suites.
Another vote for the Residence Inn Maingate. Kitchen with full sized fridge, microwave, stove etc. Great on-site facilities as well and excellent staff, as well as a pretty filling free breakfast and 'managers specials' every second night.
No more than a 15 minute walk; never took more than 10minutes for us.
