I spoke with member services today regarding a one night stay I have booked mid April. I enquired about cancelling it now that the they’re closed until further notice. Cast member says the points will go back into holding and need to be used by my use year of July 31. I told her that, that was unreasonable because A. I had every intention to use them and B. DVC will not confirm if my resort will be open mid April. C. there is no assurance from DVC as to when theyll

How can they do this ?

I completely understand the uncertainty they are dealing with on re-opening etc. However, they should not penalize me as an owner by placing points into a holding position that’s almost impossible to use. .....especially when I had every intention to use them.

thoughts ??

I think sit tight and read this if you haven’t:

Sorry for your situation. We have “bobbed and weaved” through our plans the next couple of months too. We had borrowed points for a one night birthday stay for DW - supposed to be tonight - and due to other reservation shifting had 1 point in holding. All have been restored. I think yours will be too.

Ug, this is what I'm worried about too. Our trip is supposed to be 4/18-4/24. I was wondering what dates the 'close in' reservation cancellations covered. Guess I'll just wait it out a little longer...hopefully there will be some update next week. I know with the late afternoon announcement, the CM's haven't gotten that much info from corporate yet.

I’m hoping that it’s a case of the CM’s not having the most up to date info. The CM I spoke with was adamant that holding points go back to their original holding status.

I think the issue for you is that your points became holding points prior to any of this and thus they wouldn’t qualify for a change in status. If they were not holding points to begin with, they would have waived that.

Unless the resorts stay closed until July 31st, there is still time to book with those points.

It is frustrating for sure that not all situations are going to be a happy ending during this.

Pretty much any cancellation now within 31 days is being included. So each day that changes.

If DVC can assure me (which they probably can’t) that resorts will re-open in time for me to make a booking and have a 60 day window to choose from .....they may have a case.

You can book them now for May and I know there are rooms still available.

Granted, we don’t have an opening date but at least you can secure something In case they are!
