I filled in a WDW survey after our trip and I stressed the need for more DSA's and better signage . I know they say they are on the map but I have frequently had trouble finding them !!I did notice at AK in Camp Minnie Mickey they had a HUGE sign saying SMOKING AREA !! Loved it !!

Does anyone know the price of a pack of cigarettes at the Hess station. I don't know whether to bring them with me or stop at the Hess station as they might be cheaper than they are here.

I don't know about Hess, I had to buy 2 packs at MCO this past March and the grand total was $21 and change! I will never leave home and forget them again as long as I smoke :smokin:

Wow! I know they are $10 at the resorts but what you paid is even higher. I think I will bring some with me just to be on the safe side.

We are thinking of staying at the BC our next vacation to Disney. My daughter is a chain smoker and gets irritated if she cannot smoke, so a DSA close by is a must . Is there any standard rooms on the first floor near the main pool that is also close to a DSA ? She needs a close smoking area and DGD wants by the pool. So any help with this would be appreciated :)

Just got back tonight. For those that have expressed an interest, vaping in the world is a breeze. We stayed at AKL and would often use our e-cigs on the balcony and frequently used them in the room. Never heard a word of complaint about it. We would sometimes go to the DSA in the parks if we wanted to sit down, put our feet up and blow big clouds. Mostly though we just quietly hit it while walking through the parks, and no one seemed to notice or mind. While we were waiting for ITTBAB today I overheard someone talking about smelling maple syrup. I was vaping french toast at the time.:lmao:

Only 2 CM's ever approached us about it. One was just totally intrigued and wrote down websites I gave him for information. The other one wanted to show us hers.

Most comfortable trip I ever had.

thanks for letting us know. Sounds like you had a great trip.

Just got back and have to say, as the only smoker in a group of 18, I was really sweating this. I've been all over this thread before we left! LOL! I'm happy to say, that I was actually pleasantly surprised how often I would stumble upon a DSA at every park. I actually found myself lighting up because I saw one of the trashcans with cigarette butts on the top...not because I needed to. :lmao: I had purchased Nicorette before we left and did use that (for the first time) and it seemed to work pretty well for me. Maybe next time I go I will be a non-smoker, but, if not, I won't worry about it as much!! Everyone there was very nice to find out where the DSAs were for me, if they didn't know. I never felt like a second-class citizen at anytime. I would have liked to be able to smoke on the balcony at our resorts though. BLT and AKV were both long hikes for me to have that first and last smoke of the day.

Where are the smoking areas at around the Martinque preferred buildings in CBR ?

That is normal in these parts :) I pay $21.50 for two packs. We will be stopping by the Duty free on our way into the US and picking up a carton.

My MIL uses e-cigarettes and I was wondering if anyone knows how people respond to it within the resorts? We've had a mixed bag of luck with people -- some seem to misunderstand what it is and won't let her use it, others are totally okay and have no restrictions... just want to be prepared and prepare her.

Also, do the resort areas have any designated smoking areas - specifically BWI and the Boardwalk area? I know the actual hotels are smoke free, but are there spots for smokers? I've seen them in the parks but as a non-smoker, I've never looked for them elsewhere. Thanks!!!

Yes, all the resorts have designated smoking areas. They will be marked on the resort map. As far as e-cigarettes go, most say it's best that they be used in the designated smoking areas as they can be mistook for real cigarettes and she may be confronted.

For some reason I dismissed 'Smoking DSA" as Disney lingo for something not related - I feel silly now :upsidedow

After perusing through, I realize there isn't a lot of info about ecigs, so I am going to call Disney and inquire about the e-cigarette policy. I'll make sure to post anything I find out!!!

Any word on the e-ciggs? Curious because i smoke them as well. I am assuming though, its probably easier just to stay within the smoking areas so your not explaining yourself everytime smoke comes out. :rotfl:

I e-mailed Guest Services a month or two ago to ask about e-cigs, and they told me the rules for e-cigs are the same as for smoking regular cigs. You can smoke them only in designated smoking areas. I was told the same thing at the Disney Hilton Head Resort when we were there in May. The rule doesn't make sense to me, and I hope they eventually decide to change it.

I think it makes sense from an enforcement perspective. It would take more time to figure out whether, for example, a person standing in line at check-in is smoking an e-cig or a regular cig. Plus non-smokers would panic at the sight, complain to CMs, and waste those CMs' time on the matter.

I agree that the rule might make it easier for CMs to enforce the no smoking policy, but I don't know how anyone could think my black e-cig with a blue tip was a regular cig. The part of the rule that really doesn't make sense to me is why e-cigs can't be used within the privacy of your hotel room. E-cigs don't produce an odor, except possibly a brief sweet smell, they aren't fire hazards, and there are no ashes.
