Hello all
It's a long time until our trip but we have a Woods View Room at WL booked and I thought that the North Wing, Otter Pond looked like a great location for us but my DH is a smoker so I didn't want to be selfish and just go with my choice !!
Would this be an OK location for him to get to a DSA

It's not a bad location. The nearest DSA is behind the Trout Pass Bar, which is on the other side of the pool from the wing with the woods view rooms. So if you end up at the far end of the wing (closest to Bay Lake), he can go down the stairwell at that end and out the door, then across the walkway by the pool, and he'll be at the DSA. Or if you end up with a room at the other end of the wing (closer to the lobby), he can go down the elevator, out the door by Roaring Fork, across the pool area, and behind the Trout Pass Bar.

The resort's so small that, while certainly there are rooms closer to and further away from the DSA, you're never really that far away. :goodvibes

Sorry I can not help with BLT but the DSA's at BWV have benches to sit. DH & I prefer the one as you exit BWI toward the BW. Its covered and more out of the way. The ones located outside the exit doors have constant foot traffic and too many glaring eyes:rolleyes:

Thanks for that info. - good to know. Not very comfortable with the "glaring eyes". When that happens, I'm thinking to myself "look ... you have 99% of Disney World that DOES NOT have DSA's ... go walk in one of those areas, these are "reserved" for US!" Not trying to be mean but gee whiz give us a break - we're following the rules!:tink:

Have they updated the maps to reflect the new areas (re: the Epcot posts above). We aren't going for a while, so they will probably change again, but that's my biggest pet peeve is that they don't always update the maps quickly. So I walk to where I knew a DSA WAS from many previous trips, and it's gone - then I look at the map and it still shows one!

This is great info. Many thanks for your help :-)

I would just be sure to have a map with me, and if anyone said anything, point out the DSA symbol on your map and how that's exactly where you are. When you're done smoking, make sure the cigarette is out by double-checking the tip with your finger (and yes, I've burnt myself a couple of times!) and throw it in the trash, or carry a small metal container - Altoids or something, for disposal.

Sounds like a Burning Man anti-moop trick. :thumbsup2

So here's a question for you, and other smokers. Obviously when you don't have a nearby ashtray, you have to dispose of your butt somehow/somewhere. There is the method of just littering with it (which i believe is also one reason it's becoming harder and harder to smoke in non-designated areas), and then there is the make sure it's out and toss in the trash.

So, do you find it preferable to ensure it's out via the "stamp out" method on your shoe/ground/whatever? or the "roll it between your fingers so the remaining tobacco/cherry fall out" method?

This thread got me thinking about it a bit, and what Dis'ers might consider the preferred method. I've traditionally did the roll-till-cherry-falls-out method so I can stomp the cherry to ensure its out, and then toss the filter in the trash. My logic that the remaining tobacco and ash is small and natural enough that the wind/rain/ etc will eliminate any remaining evidence. But what about others? What is your prefered method?

Stomp it out or put it out on the ground, then pick it up, make sure it's extinguished, and throw it away.

But then, I don't throw cigarette butts out my car window, either. I empty my ashtray into those - not Pringles, but the Lays-equivalent - snack canisters, chosen because the opening is oval and easier to 'hit'. When it gets full, I toss it and sacrifice by purchasing a new tube of chips. Yes, I know I could just empty the old container and reuse it. We all have to make sacrifices in this world ;)

LOL!!! hubby nebo is a GREAT "roller". the cherry falls out. tosses filter. I can NEVER accomplish it! he stand by and laughs at me! ..
I will NEVER litter.. cig butts, paper whatever (I am not a gum chewer, but , if I was, I would NEVER leave my chewed up gum for other people to step on, but, I digress)

I end up stepping out my butt, then putting it in my pocket until I can place it in the trash. of course, I always did this BEFORE smokers were anathema. I NEVER left my butts anywhere, never littered.
I was always amazed at people who put butts out with their foot, and then leave them there, .....like.. ONE INCH..from the ashtray!
just like I get angered at stepping in someone elses chewed up gum,!...yuk! NOW, I have to TOUCH the gum that has been in their mouth, to get it OFF the bottom of my foot!
I end up being the "smoker's police" only because I want to keep what little areas we have!

and if it's in an area that has ALWAYS been a dsa, (like the fountains) or way outside the france pavillion I WILL play "dumb". now I heard the one by the fountains is back! (as well it should be)

I was looking at the map for the THV and I did not see any DSA on it, Where do you smoke there?

Just got back from the Poly and it seemed very smoker friendly. There were dsa's everywhere. Stayed in Samoa and there was a DSA on the 2nd floor landing (not on the map) that made it very convenient.

Someone else just posted that they were told that smoking at the bottom of the stairs near the BBQ area was the DSA for the treehouses.

I roll out the cherry and then double check to make sure it's out before tossing the butt. :)

Glad about the one by the fountains, but I'm not giving up my DSA in the back corner of France. No one goes there except other smokers, KWIM? :goodvibes

Does anybody have any specific room numbers of convenient locations to DSA's at Boardwalk, BW Villas, Beach Club, or BC Villas? We will be requesting first floor, and booking a standard view/studio. Thanks!

Rather than EVER request a specific room number, simply request "close to a designated smoking area" or "as close as possible to a designated smoking area". Or just expect to walk a bit to get to one :)

Just back from WDW... Bummed they took out the DSA on the path going from Test Track to the cool spot thing...

Yeah, I noticed that one was gone back in April. :headache:

Is the DSA in China really gone or is that just a nasty rumor?

Correct. If the specific room number you request is not available at the time of check in you could be allocated a room anywhere .... and I mean anywhere! Then you end up fumbling around with plans trying to figure out where the nearest DSA is in relation to where they want to put you.

That would be 2 good ones gone. Moving them is one thing. Removing them completely causes problems.
