Which DSA at the Poly are you saying is now missing? Is it the one in the covered area where the tables are or is it the one along the sidewalk?

I couldn't find an ashtray ouside the arcade, the covered area by the tables, or by the pool bar (I had used those locations in June 2008 last). I did see 2 along the sidewalks but there was no where to sit by those.

Thanks for your quick response! But not happy to hear that news . . . we have reservations for a suite in the Tonga Longhouse at the Poly and that was the only DSA nearby. And it was a nice one, too -- covered and with tables. I think I may reconsider staying at the Poly altogether since there are no nice DSA's near the Hawaii Longhouse either (just the bench by the restrooms at the quiet pool - yuck!).

Hello! I am going to be staying at CSR in August of this year.
It will be the first time I have stayed at that resort since the DSAs at the resorts took effect. (Last time I stayed on property smoking was still allowed in the rooms so this is all a little new to me.)

I am just wondering: As my trip approaches, is there really anyway to request a room near one of the outdoor smoking areas? Is there a certain section or building I should try to request so that I can kind of just stroll out of my room for smoke breaks?

Or better yet, does anyone have a link to a CSR map with the DSA's listed?

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Just wanted to share that we took a spur of the moment trip over Thanksgiving and wound up staying at AllStar Movies for the first time. I just booked a return trip for early March and choose ASMo again basically because I was so impressed with the DSA’s there. In addition to many well placed DSA’s, there is a large gazebo just outside of the food court. It’s covered and holds probably 20 or so round tables, all with ashtrays. It was the most accommodating of any DSA I’ve found anywhere at WDW.

As a smoker, it was the most welcome I’ve felt anyplace on property since the in-room smoking ban went into effect. If anyone's looking for a value resort to stay, I highly recommend it.

Is there a similar thread for DLR Good Neighbour (or not) hotels? I tried to search the Disneyland boards, but (surprise! lol) the search function isn't working :sad2:

I'm trying to find a walking distance to DLR hotel that allows smoking on the room's balcony, but I'm having some trouble :smokin:

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Hey Lisa, here you go:
http://www.downtowndisneyhotels.com/

1.I cannot tell if the Best Western allows smoking rooms, but most BW do provide smoking rooms.
2. The Lake Buena Vista falls under the same boat, I can't confirm if they allow smoking rooms or on the balcony.
3. The Doubletree has smoking rooms.
4. The Hilton has smoking rooms (and allows you to do the extra magical hours).
5. The Holiday Inn seems to be closed now as it's not taking any bookings due to renovations. However the webpage says it does have smoking rooms.
6. Royal Plaza and Regal are also unknown.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, LibertySq100 :flower3: I'm sorry, but I'm looking for Disneyland Good Neighbour hotels, not WDW ones.

I'm really having trouble finding the elusive "smoking balcony" :scratchin We don't want a smoking room (nobody smokes inside the room, only outside) - hard to find LOL

Thanks anyway :goodvibes

We were at WDW from Jan 12 to the 16th. The last time I was at the smoking area at All Star Sports (a year ago) the smoking area by the lobby & eating area was not covered. This year there were 2 umbrellas and 2 benches. Big improvement!

At the Grand Floridian there was a covered porch at the exit from the lobby that is to the left of the Cafe. This was very nice. There were tables to sit at with ashtrays in the middle of the table. It was great!

How are the smoking areas at AS Music? I see from the map that there are three DSAs - one beside the main building exit, one at the very back of the resort between the two Country Fair buildings and one in front of the left side of Jazz Inn building 9. Also, do these areas have umbrellas and benches like ASSp? Those umbrellas were great on the few occasions when it was raining!

We are currently booked with a preferred room (so, that'll be one of the Calypso buildings, I think) - anyone have a room recommendation where I can see the room door from one of the DSAs? Yes, my dh will be in the room, but I'm a worrywart :rotfl:

Thanks! :cheer2:

at AsMusic last dec (07). there was one between the food court and main pool (off to the left a bit). (I did not see if you could see any room doors from it, we rarely used this one.)one at the end of jazz inn, near the piano pool, with 2 benches. One at country fair with a picnic table. a group of moms (with their cheerleader daughters had moved 2 tables together in the dsa and pretty much took them over, so we just sat at another picnic table nearby. there were a few tables in the grassy area ata country inn, kinda like a park. there was none in rock inn. but there was one NOT on the map, at the end of Broadway. we walked over there with a drink to enjoy it. it was really cute, a little fenced in area with park benches, to resemble a city park.

so, all the DSA,s had benches, but no umbrellas.

We're going Sept 12-19 :cool1: Hey, maybe you two will have to go back - say, in mid-September?! :goodvibes Yes, I see his smile - a smiling Smidgy and Nebo is a very good thing :flower3:

When I was at Poplast Feb , smoking areas were By the Lobby , benches but no cover and by Petals bar tables can't remember if umbrellas and all around the lake at benches , no cover !!

Hi all, we just got back from AKL. What a great time we had! I was concerned about having only 2 smoking areas but they were not too bad. There is one in the front on the way to the bus stops and one in the back beside the spa. We were in the closest building to the main building on Zebra trail. Only took about 2-3 minutes to walk down. The only holdback was they are not covered but they had benches. We were blessed with dry weather the whole time we were there except on the last day it poured rain and unless you had an umbrella you would get soaked.

There isn't any such thread, as far as I know - but you might want to Google California's smoking laws. They're MUCH more restrictive than most other states, overall. This would be entirely a guess, but I would say that no, you cannot smoke in/on the structure of any hotel, motel, resort, or similar facility in California.

I stayed somewhere with a somewhat unique design - on the same floor, some rooms were on relatively inside corridors while other rooms faced an open walkway like your typical motel.

I know you could not smoke anywhere in the building; there was a designated smoking area in the driveway. Guests were required to sign a separate (from any registration form) document acknowledging that smoking was not allowed in the rooms/building and that any violation would incur a $250 fee. Continued violation would result in eviction.

It appeared to be a standardized (vs. hotel-specific) form. In addition, there was a sign inside and outside the lobby citing the law.

Did you check the map link in the first post in this thread? The Pop Century one will show you where all the Pop Century designated smoking areas are. About 25% of the rooms at Pop are Preferred; and there are, if I recall correctly, a relatively high number of DSAs.
