Last February we got glittery purple and glittery green at CBR. A couple of days later they were stacking the shelves with solid colour black, red, yellow and blue.

Someone has said once before that they change the design/colours every February, so it could be that there'll be a different selection again in a week or so.

I wouldn't bet on it. ;) Until they changed the design last year, there hadn't been a design change in at least 2 years, and in fact, I think 2 years is more the norm.

Actually, I just found this post from earlier in the thread:

They have not been changing annually, no. The previous design, with lid color variations and then the addition of "RapidFill" labeling, was used from February 2011 until February 2014.

No predictions on how long this new design will be used.

So prior to last year's change, it had been three years since they changed it.

Oh that's a great idea, I can take something on the bus with me heading to the park and make sure it's empty before throwing in my backpack! :) Thanks!

You are not supposed to eat or drink on the buses, some drivers are strict with this. Don't want to have go fill your mug and then have to dump it.

Have they started letting you return with your mug and then have the chip reactivated for a reduced cost? We go about every year and it is a huge waste of plastic. It would be better for the environment.

This isn't likely to ever happen. To keep costs down the battery for the RF transmitter in the mugs are designed to only last so long once activated/turned on.

For a reduced cost? Nope. There's at least one report of an old mug being reactivated, but you have to pay the same pricing for the reactivation. And as dansdad says, who knows if the chip will still work the next time.

I read back a few pages, but not allllll the way, so forgive me if this is asked and answered. Are the mugs made of "safe" plastics (BPA/phlylate free)?

Couple of questions:

I have not used the new rapid refill mug. In May me and DH will only be staying one day and I was wondering:

1. How long would the mug last? If I get it on May 13 will it end on 13th at 11:59pm or will it still be good for breakfast the next day and for a cup for the road as we are going on cruise and would like something for the way to Port Canaveral and with our Mickey Waffles at the Food court.

2. If not how much will they charge for one extra day?

3. Does having the Disney dining plan make a difference on the length of use for the mug?

1. You can get the mug for one day, which costs $8.99, and is good for one calendar day. If you want to use it the next morning, you would need to pay for 2 days, which is $11.99.

2. See above.

3. Yes. If you have the dining plan, the mug is good for the length of your stay. (From check-in on arrival day to 11:59 pm on check-out day.)

Thanks SMitch425 I'm doing a split DDP stay with non-DDP at the end all at the same resort so wasn't sure how it would work with my mug. Since my DDP stay is 4 days it would end up being the same fee as length of stay.

Can the mug be used at the second resort of a two resort stay if the expiration date on the rapid refill machine has not expired.

How does the refillable mug program work at the water parks? Is it still after you buy the mug then on following days you just have to buy a sticker for the mug?

The water park mugs are separate from the resort mugs.
I understand that. Many years ago we purchased the refillable mug (a different mug than the resort mug) at Blizzard Beach and then after that all you had to do was purchase a sticker that had a UPC on it for that day. I was wondering if they still had that program. :beach:

We are staying at POP and wondering if anyone has pics of the refillable mugs? Are mugs exclusive of resort?
Thanks in advance?
