CLOSED: The best place to eat when you arrive at Disney World is _______.

Well, our plan is to eat dinner at Chef Mickey's arrival night. We don't want to use a park pass, so we are sticking to somewhere outside the parks. I've read good and bad reviews of dinner, but we ate breakfast here before and it was wonderful and a lot of fun! I think eating with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Donald (or whoever the other characters are) will be a great way to kick off the vacation for our kids!!!

We're doing Chef Mickeys on arrival night too. I can't think of a better way to get in the Disney spirit! In the past, we've always done a more low-key arrival day - pool time & dinner at the resort - but this time we've decided to head straight for the magic and hit MK & Chef Mickeys first thing.

I always do Le Cellier since it is one of my favs of all time. However, if you are trying to cater to your sons age I may do something different. I have taken my son to Hoop de Doo on our first night and it was really fun and really got us into the Disney spirit.

My newest tradition for the first night is Kona Cafe - we're usually at Magic Kingdom but I'm not a big fan of their TS restaurants so hopping on the monorail to the Polynesian is great. I also went to Whispering Canyon a couple of years ago with my then 5 year old nephew and he LOVED it - we all had a blast!

We'll be staying at Old Key West on points but our flight (the one that I hope SWA is still flying next January) arrives at 4:10 pm so we're probably not going to try to get into a park that night.

Arriving that late and knowing how unpredictable air travel can be, I don't think I'd schedule anything particularly special on the first night. Even if your plane lands exactly on time, you won't get to the resort until 5:30-ish, and then you have to check in and probably check out your room... Do you think you're going to want to hop on a bus to MK for dinner? Not that it is a terribly long ride, but travelling makes days seem long.

Staying at OKW and arriving on an afternoon flight, I'd probably just try Olivias or something in DTD, check out the pool (weather permitting) and take it easy. How old are your boys? My kids (5 & 9) love Planet Hollywood and Rainforest Cafe, both of which are closer to OKW (both DTD area) and might be easier from a transportation standpoint than Chef Mickey's.

I loved reading everyone's choices :)
We are going to try 1900 Park Fare this time for our first night because the girls will love that Cinderella, Alice, and Mary Poppins are there. I thought they'd get more excited over the characters, so that is how I chose it :)

Last time we ate at Boma on our first night, and I didn't enjoy it very much. It was just too loud and a bit overwhelming, and with our food allergies, there wasn't much for us to eat with the rest of our group. So, it didn't leave a fabulous impression on me, but I agree with all the choices and suggestions everyone else has made!

And it's true, even if it isn't your favorite for whatever reason, you'll still be giddy and having a ball just because it will be your first night in Disney!
:)

We will be traveling with 3 small boys and 6 adults and arriving in the late afternoon. What's the best place to eat dinner to start our visit? I would like our first meal at Disney to be really wonderful, especially for the boys.

Small children will probably love the Rainforest Cafe (as do I:goodvibes ) It's usually a traditional place for us to go first night but, be advised QUIET will not be found here:dance3: .

Have a great time where ever you go!

Chef Mickey's! We took our niece (8yo) there on our first night back in '04. During the napkin waving festivities, she said, "This is the best day of my whole life!" :rotfl: We still laugh about that to this day.

We did LTT last trip. It was very fun interacting with the characters the first night there. The food was suprisingly good.
