Indiana Jones is supposed to open April 2nd. Space Mountain is getting totally redone and shouldn't open until Summer or Fall of 2005. The SB Walk-through closed a couple of years ago and still doesn't have a re-opening date.:( I'm not sure about Dumbo.

I got my information from
http://www.mouseplanet.com/parkupdates/dlr/dlr040224.htm
They do a weekly update that I find very helpful. Also, the rumor (and it's only a rumor) is that Sleeping Beauty's Castle will be closed until the 50th Anniversary celebration; the Tiki Room show may be changed while it is closed.

All these closings are the reason we canceled our last years vacation to DL. With such few rides, looks like they could plan better for refurbuishment. The castle was closed a year or so ago and now again??!!!

SB castle closed then and hasn't been open since. Keep up hope for the 50th anniversary though

From what I have read elsewhere.. many areas of the park are getting "refreshed" for the 50th announcement on May 5, 2004.
City hall is going thru a paint job and will be enlarged later. Firehouse is getting painted, restrooms painted, the Little Mermaid walk area/fountain is getting painted.....
Some of the refurbs are the typical ones they do every year plus addition of wheelchair ramps on the fantasyland rides- March is the low season so they do most refurbs then so all is spiffy for spring break crowds.

As for Tiki .. I don't think they are doing any changes. I know there has been lots of speculation but a two month refurb wouldn't be long enough for any major changes. This is a VERY long overdue refurb.. it was suppose to be done several years ago. Have you seen the condition of the thatch roof lately? I noticed how terrible it was last March.. and lots of the wall tiki dudes are not working. When I saw it for the first time 3 yrs ago I was amazed and delighted.. but each year after I noticed problems (and I only go once a year).

Here's some news.. rumor is that Super Star Limo in DCA will be reopening in May- ohh ahh.. are we happy now? I have never been on it myself.. but it's always a topic on other boards of how truly awful the ride is.. cheesy to the MAX! LOL

Don't let a few refurbishments ruin your trip.. there are lots of other things to do and see. (I uausally avoid Feb and March- too short of hrs and major ride closures. If you want everything open-and longer hrs - then go with the crowds spring back and later..)

The Castle Walkthrough closed very soon after Sep 11 as a saftey precaution (as its not monitored inside) I doubt we'll see it soon

We did the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour earlier this month which includes a trip to the Tiki Room.

We were told that there was a clause in the contract with Dole (who sponsors it) that they were not able to change anything permanently. Might do slight changes for holidays, but would always return to original.

This is what guide, Michelle, told us. Of course she also told us that Michael Eisner bought the company. DH set her straight on that one.

Hope most of her info was more accurate than that.

Otherwise a very enjoyable tour.

I wanna go on Indiana Jones! I went when it was first open, about 8 years ago and the lines were LONG!! Oh well. Maybe in another 8 years LOL.

This is the latest report from mouseplanet.com:

Indy Rides Again
The Indiana Jones Adventure's long-awaited rehab appears to be ahead of schedule. Adventureland management reportedly does not foresee anything keeping the attraction from reopening, as planned, on Friday, April 2. Staffers speculate the ride may be up and running even earlier.

“I think that it will have some soft openings earlier, at least a week ahead of schedule,” said one cast member. “Keep in mind that workers tore up the station, then installed gates and laid new concrete so as it looks brand new. The area is still a 'hard hat area, so access is a bit restricted, but I can tell you that having been there, I'm amazed that work has gone on so swiftly.”

As of last week, the employee revealed, “The new station gates are in place, and all we are waiting for is the electronic elements to be installed. Management has put a rush on this ride opening up quicker, and Operations will begin testing shifts as soon as (the end of February). The first week will entail getting feedback about console design and the like, and later in the month, the ride will be powered up and cycled again. Some show elements have already been replaced, such as the bug room getting new projection equipment.”

:hyper: Crossing fingers that it will be open when I'm there...:hyper:
