Here is a skirt I whipped up tonight. A friend of mine asked me to pick up this shirt for her little girl, and I couldn't help but make something to match. I hope she didn't have other plans for the skirt!

Thank you! I can't wait I am working on my nieces matching outfit and nephews matching shirt! Then on to the next , gosh I don't even know how many, outfit, haha. I am really happy to have found this board I have been down in the dumps and seeing everyone sewing and making cute stuff has really helped perk me up and get into action.
Awww so glad you found this board too...it's fun and ADDICTING!!! Can't wait to see what else you make!

Ok here is the applique I did last night to match the skirt. /nikki asked me for an applique so I did one for her. It came out better then the last one. Still not perfect but a bit better. I did take some ones advice and ripped out and redid some areas but I was afraid i would ruin the tshirt so i didn't do it too much. It also kept getting caught in a few areas even though I was trying to move it along so to speak. Then I found that the stabilizer came undone easily even though I ironed it on. Could I use double layers of Stabilizer???

IMG_0779.jpg

I will try to get her to model it later but she isn't feeling well...
Your applique looks great!!! Hopefully you can get your little sweetie to model it soon!!! It's adorable!

Thanks for all the comments!
I did NOT design any of the Disigns. I got them all on the Creative Disigns board. I just did not have the time to make them this trip, and there are so many creative people that did all the hard work for me!:thumbsup2

This is my last photo. I made a journal for Leighanna to take and write comments, add photos and autographs. Leighanna helped with the gluing and taping.
I am doing this as part of her school work that she is going to miss. She will share her trip with her class when she gets back!

Very cute book!

I am sorry that I have not been posting lately. I have a very difficult student who wipes me out! I have been coming home with very little energy, but I am reading. I love all the outfits. There are so many creative and beautiful combinations of fabrics....and the appliques!!!!!!

The only thing I have made lately is a pair of easy fit pants and a T for my grandson. Here it is:

Awww how sweet!!! He sure is a little cutie!!!

Hey has anyone heard from MYTWOTINKS lately?? I haven't seen her on the board for awhile. Hope all is well!!!!!

I hate when you accidenly sew a piece on backwards. I lined up the yoke and skirt pieces so the wrong sides were facing. I love my seem ripper. Its really annoying because it is taking me longer to take out this one seem then it did to sew the whole skirt (Its a dolly size skirt)

Its the doll dresses that I always mess up on. They are just so little and I tend to go too fast and then I pay for it!

Wow, you are a good friend. I am sure even if she had another plan, this skirt will blow that out of the water! Where did you get the shirt? I could use that around here for a couple of my kids! ;)

Aw, thanks! I hope they like it. It's from baby gap. It's on clearance right now, I think it was under $5 when I bought it.

Yeah! the 100th day outfit! I've been waiting to see this one. Are there really 100 dots on that ladybug??

Thanks for all the compliments on Nikki's outfit. It really helped my confidence!
Ok, folks I need to be educated on interfacing.....
I feel so green.... I have used stabilizers (mostly Sulky stuff) and iron on stuff like Steam A Seam, but I have never bought stuff by the yard.
I guess the first question is are there different weights and kinds?
Are they behind the cutting counter? do I need ask for them?
I supposed all stores are different so that may not be a good question to ask.
I am working on a bag, and need some. Just trying to get some basic knowledge before I brave JoAnn.
Thanks guys.
I usually use light weight interfacing on one piece of the bag and fusible fleece on the other piece. I hope that helps!

Thanks for all the comments!

Great! Boys are so funny when you try to get them to pose for a ice picture aren't they???

Hi guys. I have not been very active around here lately (loooong story) but I have a qusetion for those of you who do machine appliques. Is it possible to do an applique that it larger than the hoop size for your machine? I have seen a lot of really great appliques in the small amount of time I have been able to check in, and I am considering getting an embroidery machine with part of our tax refund. Also, can an embroidery machine be used for just the details like facial features? These are what I have the most trouble with. I would love to be able to just let the machine do at least that part. Also, what machine would you recommend in the $500-$700 range for doing applique work? I would like to have one that I can download pattens for fairly easily.
I have the brother innovis 900 and I LOVE it so far! I have only had it under a month but I adore it! I think Brother is running some rebates right now too... The bonus is it has some Disney designs built in!

Here is a skirt I whipped up tonight. A friend of mine asked me to pick up this shirt for her little girl, and I couldn't help but make something to match. I hope she didn't have other plans for the skirt!

GoofyG- they are all just too cute! I feel your pain on the hibernating! My kids so need to run and play outside! Please say spring is coming!

They filmed the movie Groundhogs Day in my tonw so every yr they have this huge celebration and this groundhog tries to see his shadow. Well this yr if he does I am going to get the little bugger!!!!!!! :rotfl2:

So if any one watched that movie over the next few days because I am sure it will be on think of me!!!

The fabric came from Walmart. It was with their Valentines fabric. I love that movie, sometimes I feel like that's my life, "wake up, make breakfast for kids, clean up breakfast, do laundry, make lunch for kids, clean up lunch, do laundry, make dinner for kids, clean up dinner, do laundry, go to bed, wake up, make breakfast for kids...." I too am reliving the same day over and over and over.... :rotfl2:

YEs there was, I counted before I put them on. Though I did notice when she came home from school the lady bug was missing a few spots. I'll have to put more on later!

I just noticed your ticker. We will be there Feb. 21-28. Maybe we will see each other. I have pictures of my family on my pretrip report if you want to see what I look like. Say hi if you see me and I will do the same if I see you.

Quick Question

Those who have made the rag quilts. Do you use three layers in your quilts? The link on the links page says to use flannel in between two pieces of cotton. Is this what most of you do? I need to make a small one for a baby shower and was trying to figure it out! Thanks!

Okay--one more outfit for my grandson. You know grandmothers can't send just one!

close up of his name--it's just a font I printed and ironed on. Cutting out those little letters was really fun!;)
