Ok here is the applique I did last night to match the skirt. /nikki asked me for an applique so I did one for her. It came out better then the last one. Still not perfect but a bit better. I did take some ones advice and ripped out and redid some areas but I was afraid i would ruin the tshirt so i didn't do it too much. It also kept getting caught in a few areas even though I was trying to move it along so to speak. Then I found that the stabilizer came undone easily even though I ironed it on. Could I use double layers of Stabilizer???

Oh and I drew my own flower. Well at least the top part.

I will try to get her to model it later but she isn't feeling well...

Wow, that looks great. It makes the outfit!

Okay, crisis fixed. I checked ebay and pretty much the only walle jibbitz being sold are all from one lady, but she lives in Atlanta. So, more then likely I'll get them before we leave!

Wendy, go look. Her prices are decent, if you buy a few it works out to not so bad. I would wait for disney but they always have the WORST selection and I have yet to see Wall E there! Our mall literally had 100's of them. I love just looking at them all.

I am sorry that I have not been posting lately. I have a very difficult student who wipes me out! I have been coming home with very little energy, but I am reading. I love all the outfits. There are so many creative and beautiful combinations of fabrics....and the appliques!!!!!!

The only thing I have made lately is a pair of easy fit pants and a T for my grandson. Here it is:

how do you guys appliqué and embroider up the legs of ready made jeans?
Do you take them apart?
do you just struggle with them in the hoop??
do you hand sew appliqués on to them???

thanks

Looks great! You are doing well!

Thanks for all the comments!
I did NOT design any of the Disigns. I got them all on the Creative Disigns board. I just did not have the time to make them this trip, and there are so many creative people that did all the hard work for me!:thumbsup2

This is my last photo. I made a journal for Leighanna to take and write comments, add photos and autographs. Leighanna helped with the gluing and taping.
I am doing this as part of her school work that she is going to miss. She will share her trip with her class when she gets back!
th_Disneyoutfits2009002-4.jpg
That looks great! Is that a cricut creation too?
Your little girl is so lucky to have you making all these cute things for her!
Just wondering if anyone here knows how to make the purple dress that June from Little Einsteins wears. Please let me know.
Very easy to do this. I would just take any dress pattern that you like and make the entire thing in purple and put a pink sash around the waist. If you are not sure about yourself you could go over to ycmt.com and get the simply sweet dress. I think that one would work great!
I have a June dress that my MIL made for my dd... she didn't realize that is what it was. It is just a purple dress, but it reminds me of June. My DD calls it her June dress. I'll try to post pictures of it later if I remember.

Love all the stuff posted lately!

I am in serious lurker mode lately trying to get ready for our trip. I think I have the last appliqué done, the last iron on printed, cut and ironed on, the last button sewn on, the last item I needed at the store checked off my list. This is (was) the last night off I had until our vacation! I still need to pack every thing yet! DW will help, but she has to work everyday until then also. We are working right up until the end, so that we can strategically take almost two weeks off, but only count it as one week of vacation.

Here is the final outfit I made for Leighanna, and a couple of t-shirts for us to match. Yes, we like matchy, matchy whenever possible on vacation!

Hobby Lobby had all their T's at 50% off this week, so we went a little crazy!
Everything looks great. Your T's look so professional!!
I adore your Lady outfit. I remember seeing it when you posted it the first time around. The fabrics you used are just perfect. I need to branch out and use patterned fabrics for applique. Hope you have a magical trip!

I am sorry that I have not been posting lately. I have a very difficult student who wipes me out! I have been coming home with very little energy, but I am reading. I love all the outfits. There are so many creative and beautiful combinations of fabrics....and the appliques!!!!!!

Awww... your DD2 looks adorable in her Mermaid dress. My Hannah wants to wear her Little Einstiens dress every day. I have to hide it from her so I can wash it.
Love the twirl skirts. I am planning on tackling that in one of my next projects. Trying to convince myself I don't NEED to buy a pattern for it.

Cute outfits! You must be a very busy mom!! ;)

Just testing to see if my signature works:

(how come there is only 1/2 a Big Give Link?)
Put your ticker and the Big Give Link on the same line.

Aawwww come on! You're not going to post a pic? :)
Thanks!
Stephanie

Ok, do this:

Take 100 yards of fabric, (100 different fabrics, 1 yard of each)
throw them into the air.
Put a sewing machine in the middle
Take a picture
There you go!
:rotfl2:

Linnette, it is adorable!

Sorry, I just realized that the first page doesn't say:

HEATHERSUE'S BESTEST APPLIQUE TUTORIAL HERE:

http://disboutique.blogspot.com/2008/04/bestest-applique-tutorial.html

you actually have to go to the bookmarks first.

Thanks for pointing that out!! What was I thinking??? It's all fixed now!
Linette - so cute and creative !!! GREAT JOB!!!:cool1:

Im almost embarassed to post this after that, but I promised someone I'd show them Tim's animal outfit made to coordinate with his sisters Valentine animal print outfits - do you think the heart on the shirt is too girlie? It means he loves animals - which he does...(he is 4)???

th_100_0639.jpg
]

I think it's really cute, but I wouldn't have put it on Corey at that age with a heart on it.

I think I lost the quote of the chef's hat. That was adorable, and I love the story!

th_104_0607.jpg

th_104_0610.jpg

I know, atleast they are silly things to be bothered about.

You said it Jessica!!!!!

These are really cute!

Megan just informed me that she needs a new epcot outfit for the dismeet. And I still have to make her outfit for the western dance next Friday. And we have company coming in for the superbowl so I need to clean the house. Eek!

We have a western dance next Friday too! It's not the Father Daughter dance though. I was thinking of having Arminda wear the skirt she wore to Whispering Canyon Cafe. I may make Lydia a skirt like it with the flouncy skirt pattern and the cow fabric.

Ok I need your honest feedback.
Instead of doing cheap china crap toys for Party Favors I have decided to make t shirts (Not super fancy, just a basic one) anyway I just got done sewing DS's (His is like the "test" one)
So tell me what you think.. FYI the frey check is still drying on it right now..
th_Walleshirt.jpg

I think it is a great idea!
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u194/AimeeG_photo/March%202009%20WDW/Pre%20Trip/th_JasmineChipDale014.jpg[/IMG]

Finally, my model was more that cooperative to put on this one. I wonder why!!! I just need to find a way to get it off of her. This is for DD2 to wear on her sisters Birthday night. DD4 has this in Snow White but was to "busy" to take pictures.

Waughzee made the tiara and JennWDW made the bows.

***Notice only one ballet slipper. The other is MIA. It would have been easier to take the remaining slipper off of an alligator.***

th_SleepingBeautySophee006.jpg

Aimee, these are so adorable!!! I love thost Cutie Princesses!! And, I adore Chip and Dale! Too bad you and Heather aren't going to be there at the same time, you guys could have got some pictures of the kids in their matching outfits!!!

Sophee looks adorable with her one slipper on!! That petti is adorable too!!! And, Arminda wanted to know if that tiara comes in Belle!

Cool!

Ok here are a few things I have been doing.
IMG_0774.jpg
a nightgown for my niece and I also made one for my girlfriends dd. I was so happy i found the fabric which is satin backed with flannel for 2.5 a yard!!!!

I love these!!! I have the Pooh fabric, just a little piece though. I haven't figured out what to do with it yet!!! I love it!

Does anyone know Lisa Zoe's ebay ID? I think she created something I want to CASE. ETA - I am looking for a way to contact her and make sure she wouldn't mind.

Emily

Lisa doesn't seem to mind Caseing. I wouldn't sell anything you CASED, but I woudlnt' worry about it for your own use.

almost done with DD's animal kingdom outfit still have to make bows and do some hand sewing and fray the mickey head.

th_002-1.jpg

So cute!!!

I thought some of you guys would like to read this.
http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml09/09115.html

It's about time the lawmakers realized what a big mistake they were making!

I think this is a great idea, and the shirt looks great. I know I would rather my kiddos bring home something like this rather than lots of little toys.

When my oldest turned 8, HSM2 had just come out. I made all the girls drawstring backpacks. It was a big hit.

th_hsm2000112-1.jpg

Someone on the DISigns board made the names and I ran them off on fabric sheets and cut out all the bags. The girls used my scraps and designed their own bag. I helped them sew everything down and then we put their name on top. Then we threaded some colorful ribbon through the casing and VOILA!!! It was a slumber party, so we had plenty of time. It was a huge hit though and served as a craft and goody bag.

Alright, now I'm off to finish catching up.
What a great idea!

Just a quick post to share pictures of the skirts on. Madilynn's not feeling well today and spent the day on Gramma's couch so I could work a few hours. Just wanted to share the pictures before I forgot. I'll have to catch up after the kids are in bed.

th_SDC10562.jpg

You are doing such a great job!!! I forget, have you been sewing long, or did you just start? It looks like you've been sewing for quite awhile, that's why I ask!

Love all the stuff posted lately!

Hobby Lobby had all their T's at 50% off this week, so we went a little crazy!

Even though I despise the term "matchy matchy" I will forgive you for using it, since these outfits are so cute!!!! ;) I do love that you all want to match though!!! I can get Brian to do that a day or two of vacation usually! Well, since he refuses to pack his own clothes, I guess I could make him do it everyday!!! I love Lady's new bling too! That adds a great touch!!!

I pm'd her a while back because I wanted to CASE her Sleeping beauty dress, and she didn't reply. Let me know if you get in touch with her. I wish I had saved a picture of that dress. I remember loving it so much. Has anyone talked to her??? Hope she is okay.. :)

I figured she was pretty busy trying to sell things before the new law went into affect. Mayb now that they've changed it a bit she will have some more time. I know she posted on the other board about the new law earlier this month. She often goes away (from the board) for months at a time. I think it might be during her busier or slower times.

I will try to get her to model it later but she isn't feeling well...

I hope Nikki feels better soon!

The top turned out great Marlo!! You are really getting the hang of applique!!

Husqvarna Lena Sowing Machine

Anyone know about this machine? its on craigslist in my area for 125...thanks

That sounds like a really good deal for a Viking, but I don't know anything about that particular model. The Vikings (Husqvarnas) are a great brand.

ETA: It was only used 3 times???
(I did a search the machine, and the listing came up!)

Husqvarna Lena Sowing Machine

Anyone know about this machine? its on craigslist in my area for 125...thanks

I would venture to assume that the Husqvarna is an awesome machine. They are quite pricey and like work horses. I don't know anything abput this particular model though. I would probably want to see it before having to commit (is that spelled right, looks odd). But $125 should be a great price.

how do you guys appliqué and embroider up the legs of ready made jeans?
Do you take them apart?
do you just struggle with them in the hoop??
do you hand sew appliqués on to them???

thanks
-rebecca-

You have to rip open the seam, either inside or out. I do it depending on which looks easier to open up. You can open up the hem to make life alot easier or you can be like me and try to do it without opening the hem also.

For some reason I have found Carter's brand jeans seem to open the easiest. I can usually eventually find the right thread to just pull and the whole leg magically comes undone! If I don't find it it takes me a while to get them open!

$200 gift card question

Can it be used for anything? As in can we pay for meals with it? I believe the birthday one they have restrictions on but hadn't seen anything about this one. I know a couple have gone already so hope you'll have an answer.

I hate when you accidenly sew a piece on backwards. I lined up the yoke and skirt pieces so the wrong sides were facing. I love my seem ripper. Its really annoying because it is taking me longer to take out this one seem then it did to sew the whole skirt (Its a dolly size skirt)

Hi guys. I have not been very active around here lately (loooong story) but I have a qusetion for those of you who do machine appliques. Is it possible to do an applique that it larger than the hoop size for your machine? I have seen a lot of really great appliques in the small amount of time I have been able to check in, and I am considering getting an embroidery machine with part of our tax refund. Also, can an embroidery machine be used for just the details like facial features? These are what I have the most trouble with. I would love to be able to just let the machine do at least that part. Also, what machine would you recommend in the $500-$700 range for doing applique work? I would like to have one that I can download pattens for fairly easily.

k people, I'm trying to win a bag I need some ideas, I have some, but was trying to see what others had.

Fun ideas for children, romantic ideas for DH's, recipe ideas, craft ideas...anything to do with Valentine's Day
