I've had this multiquote going since this morning, so I hope I can remember what I wanted to say! My Lydia is home from school with a temperature today. She was acting fine, just a bit moodier than usual, but now she is laying down and taking a nap. Which is NOT something Lydia ever does! So, I'm guessing she is not feeling as well as she was pretending to! When will this awful winter be over????
Misty I hope your son is doing better soon!
Marlo, I meant to comment on that adorable jacket last night, but I don't think I made it that far! I LOVED it!! Especially the embroidery and the collar!
Here's my first Raglan. I got the Pooh fleece as a remnant on Black Friday. Now it can be nice and warm when we go to WDW next week. My ticker is a day off because I never changed it when the 7 for 4 deal came out and I added a night. SOOOOOO much left to do!
I LOVE this!!! That fabric is so pretty, I've never seen it in fleece before!
I have ordered a ton of stuff from jiffy shirts. I have gotten mostly white cotton shirts. I have tie-dyed them, used iron ons and done some appliqueing. What I like is that I can order as many of a certain size/color as I want. The Rabbit skins toddler shirts do run small. They are very fast with shipping! I get the heavy weight shirts alot of times especially for woman! I also bought some tote bags from there.
I also like the cherokee ultra tees from target. They have them on clearance a lot of times. I just got some last week for .87!!
I know this wasn't your question but just fyi-
Last time I time I tie dyed I used some hanes shirts and they do not take the
color! They must have some stain protection stuff on them! It took for ever before the color would soak in and it made a huge mess and ran all over the place! The shirts I got from jiffyshirts worked really great!
Thanks for sharing your experience with them! I always like to hear everyone's views on things!
I LOVE that light blue Pooh toile!!
Tom- gorgeous Vida! You have such an eye for color! Hard to believe something as little as "I didnt have grey in my stash" kept you back from adding him LOL! i think its perfect! colors are great!!! So perfect for the FL sun!
Last 24hrs in a nutshell. Last night as Im sewing up the feliz overdress (can i just tell you, this is an easy pattern, I just cant sit for long, so take me forever) anyway I realize one of my side overdress pieces has little snips in it. Megan took my snippers and clipped it while it was still laying folded in half and cut 3 little slices. I guess i'm going to try and put a patch behind- but will that keep the fabric from fraying???? They are about 2" apart Id guess- 3 times!!!
This morning- Hooray! i get to go to my class at church- im taking a class on a book called "Say Goodbye to Whining, Complaining, and Bad Attitudes...in you and your kids"
I am so happy to be going! I get Megan all dressed, pig tails and Cindy bows and all. Then i focus on myself, put the dogs in my bedroom, put my jacket on and realize Megan has closed the door at the top of our stairs- which has a lock, but no key and she locked it. I have no access to the garage, and DH has a lovely habit of ALWAYS locking the back door. I pray for the best and go out the front door and limp my way thru the snow, down our hill to the back. Yup, it's locked. But windows right beside it are not. It's my only option. Pregnant or not, symphysis or not- it's my only option. Other than being trapped in my house all day- which is NOT an option. I flip over a rubbermaid type container thats out there and try to use that- but its so cold it just shatters under me. I go for a office trash can and flip that over- it's filled with ice. That doesnt shatter. Im able to launch half my body thru the window- my hands can reach the couch, but its too far for me to pull my body onto. So I have to do the inevitable, I have to pull one leg in at a time. With a heavy and ho I manage to get my fat butt and belly thru the window (thank the Lord there were no cameras around!). I go up the stairs and open the door and Megan in her 2yr old voice says "I DID IT!!" i look at her and dryly reply- "No, I did it"
We leave. All goes well. A lot of walking, but still a good time.
I get home- Megan had let the dogs out of the bedroom while I was stuffing myself thru the window and the dogs have strewn trash ALL over my kitchen floor and living room rug. egg shells, tomato sauce, caramel sauce, rotten eggplant- everything! I clean floor, on my knees- my mop broke. The stains are still in the rug. .....sigh.....
I try to nap, but the phone rings, i keep having to get up because of my teeny-tiny bladder. LOL! I sort of kind of get a nap, but not really.
DH calls and says hes leaving work and going to gym- since Im forbidden to go grocery shopping I ask what we are eating- he says "Im not eating, I have a weigh-in tomorrow" I say okay- what about Megan and me? Uhh, I dont know, isnt there food there? No, there isnt.
Sigh....he has no response. So i stuck like a college kid scrounging around in my kitchen to feed DD and me.
Really, inside, Im laughing.
i just love coming on here and seeing everyone's creations! Cheers me right up!!!!
You need to print that up and put it in the baby book! That is so funny! I'm really glad you didn't hurt yourself though!
Thank you

I love it! The Lady and the Tramp has a special place in my heart because my Grandmother was an Animator for that movie

She drew Trusty's tail. lol.
That is very cool!
How cool! How come you never told us that before? You know we all live for stuff like that!
Did you know Crystal's Great Aunt knew Dolly Parton? It's in her 25 random things note on Facebook! She wrote and sang songs! Her name is escaping me now though!
Yikes

! That sounds like a fun day for you! I swear husbands and kids could drive you crazy! I have a married straight friend who swears it would be easier to be a lesbian b/c at least another woman would "get it" and be more helpful than a husband! And somedays I agree! Okay, I hope that wasn't a controversial statement and please know that it wasn't intended to be insulting or argumentative.....just a funny comment that I'm repeating! Please no flames!
My SIL has a girlfriend, and I'm not sure it's all it's cracked up to be!!!

That girl calls her CONSANTLY! ALL the time! If my SIL is here for over an hour, the girlfriend starts calling! She likes to keep close tabs on her. I think I'd rather have a husband than a nagging wife!!!
ya know, i made a dress for my dd out of that fabric and she too refused to wear it. She was 22 months at the time, and had never said she didnt want to wear something before. but everytime i tried to put that dress on her she cried.... i love that fabric! The mean mommy that i am, forced her to wear it to crystal palace, once we were out the door she was fine, but it was a fight to get her in it.
I love that dress! And that fabric! I think our
Walmart is out of it now, and I never bought any! I wish I had!
I'm getting a new sewing machine!!! Yay!!! Anything will be an upgrade from what I have (Singer from Target). I need some suggestions.
I am a novice sewer, but I really like it. I want to be able to do embroidery as well. Digital would be great.
WOO HOO!!!
CHECK OUT MY TICKER!!!
I convinced DH to go this May 9-16!!!! I just need to make reservations tomorrow morning. Oh and I need to pick a moderate resort - any suggestions?
Edited to add - I think I just picked CBR. Look at that kiddie water play area.

I'm so excited!!! I really hope we can meet!
Theresa,
Thanks so much for your help....I did tighten my bobbin screw and did the trick like you told me - it was actually waaaaayyyyy loose. Im still having an issue - on the bottom side, the thread looks like a straight line with a tight loop over it every stitch.....?????? the top actually looks okay??? its so weird??? this machine has never gotten out of wack for me before....any other ideas???? I dont have a book so its hard to problem solve....
I also made the adjustments on my serger like you suggested - will see next time I use it!! Thanks so much for your help!
Wendy
Glad I could help! I see Jessica and Steph posted some great tips for you!
Thanks Anna! I never get these emails from Joann's and I can't figure out why! I've signed up
I finished one more dress tonight. I have been slowing working on this one for three days. I have one more to make though. These are not exactly my favorite dresses to make but the outcome is totally worth it
**** I resized the pictures. I have no idea why the are ginormus!!! Sorry!!!****
Aimee, that is gorgeous!! My husband was looking at it over my shoulder and he said, "WOW!"
I'm a little behind, so you've probably already made this, but the notches are the front and face up. I found this out the hard way when I was making a dozen for my DD's birthday party. Luckily I made a test one first or I'd have ended up with 12 names on the INSIDE of the hat! (and upside down too!) So... notches UP and that is the front.
Do I spy a Lydia??? Those are too cute!
Valentines Day is one of my absolute favorite holidays. For the last 7 yrs I have taken my kids to get their pictures taken on Valentine's. It started because Steve didn't understand why I spent so much money on getting the kids pictures taken and so for Valentine's Day I told him for my gift I wanted to be able to get the pictures done and not have to worry how much $ was spent. It's become a tradition.
Anyway, so I bought some fabric to make Madilynn a skirt to wear for pictures. At first I wanted to make one similar to this skirt.
But then I saw this skirt and can't decide.
this is the fabric I bought. And I had her put on the shirt I bought for her to wear with the skirt. Now I need help finding a way to tie the black into the skirt. I just can't decide at all.
I need to make Madilynn one of these too. She's been wanting one since she saw the one made for Shayelynn. Your rendition is cute too
I love both of those skirts! But, I say go with the ruffles while you still can! You could put a black ruffle on it. I love the look of pink and black together.
The Disney Outlet was at our mall for a few weeks and I bought Madilynn this shirt
because I wanted to make her a skirt based on this jumper
Do you think that's too much dots? Can you ever have too many dots?
This all is so hard for me. It's so much easier to have a pattern tell me exactly what I need and how to do it than to try to figure it all out.
I wouldn't use dots on the jumper bodice if you used the polka dot shirt. I really like that shirt! And, Lydia saw that jumper the other day, and has requested it!
I have been reading these boards for over a year. We made our first trip to Disney last June. I made the girls several outfits from ideas that I saw on here. I will try to post some of the pics. We are planning another trip for June of this year....so I need to get sewing again. Thanks Missy
I hope this works and that they are not huge photos. Thanks for looking.
No no! These aren't too big, they are too little! We like big picures around here!! I love all these outfits!! Great job!!! I can't believe you've been here a year and didn't say anything!! Didn't you see the big call I made for all the lurkers to come out of hiding???
This is stunning. i see you made your ties longer and have them on the outside, instead of the inside. This would also be perfect on the cruise ship with the artist pallete restaurant!!
For anyone considering doing the Feliz for the first time- I highly recommend using the tutorial on Trillium blog. Just do a google search for "Feliz dress tutorial" and it will be in the top 3 links- it has helped me so much, I havent even bothered to look at the text. My only question is if I am doing the seam allowance right to get the right size....we shall see!
Okay so if you had a gremlin who put little cuts in your dress- would a patch on the back side of the dress work? Or would I still have to put something on top of the cuts to keep from fraying?
I have that tutorial in the bookmarks too, if that helps anyone find it. (do a search from the bookmarks for "Feliz") I thought it was a really good one too! I can't wait to make my Feliz!
Bonjour,
Yes, still excited and hopeful that DH will take me to France.
I made this shirt for DH yesterday. I also have some TF fabric to make a bowling shirt but he wanted the applique so I did it.
I am making a decepticon white on black this morning. It is all ready to be sewn.
Love the Steamboat mickey dress!
I love that April!!! GREAT JOB!!!
That steamboat Mickey dress is up there in my all time favorite disboutique items!
I knew you guys with empathize with me...I got a PIN for $594 per adult AND a $500 giftcard...BUT the future of DH"s job is up in the air so no way....sigh.
That stinks!
Oh! In the midst of freaking out about my skort pattern, I totally forgot to let you all know that the sash tute is finished!
Here is a linky:

Thanks so much for all the great feedback! I ended up doing 3 bow sizes with 3 belt sizes each. The only thing that I didn't get in there that was requested was how to work the straps into the back of the bodice. I'll get that up there down the line, but I think Shannon explained it pretty well already

. With this one, you'd just extend the blunt ends the needed amount.
Thank you Carla!!! I love it!
Can anyone think of a different character for in the date or do you like the McQueen?
You would think the boys would be easy since I have 2 of them!
Tracie
I like it with Lightening McQueen.
I've been perusing the applique section in the bookmarks - I'd love to find the mickey head applique pattern!

Under Applique - How to - I clicked on DISboutiquers - Applique & it's asking me for a log-in/password?

Can someone help me out? LOL

TIA!
You have to sign up for that board.
You can look at Heathersue's tutorial though without signing up for anything. It's really thorough and even I understood it!
We all love your very exact patterns Carla! They truly are the best. I just recommended the Simply Sweet dress pattern to a friend last night. It's one of my BFF's younger sisters. She is one of my friends on facebook. Anyway, the other day I noticed that my friend Jennifer commented on facebook to her sister Jill to look at my pictures at the clothes for WDW (and at the same time she sent me a message commenting on them). Come to find out they are going to WDW with their whole family (parents, 3 kids and spouses, 6 grandkids - 4 girls, two boys). Jill then sends me a message asking if I would "help" her make the Cinderella dresses I did for Amber Greenawalt's Big Give for their four girls. Yikes! And of course they leave in March. Now I know all of you fast sewers out there would have them done in no time but I am super slow! And I'm in the middle of making V-Day dresses for my girls and want to do St. Patty's Day too. And by "help" I think she means I make them! SO I told her I would do the applique on the bodice of the dresses but she could make the skirts (or have their Mom sew them since she is a wonderful seamstress and makes their babies bedding). Should I have agreed to just do the whole thing? I really wasn't sure if she wanted to learn how to sew herself (and what better way is there than using Carla's patterns?) or if she wanted me to do it all. Like I said her older sister is one of my BFF's and has been since we were 7 (so for those of you counting, 28 years). We were in each other's weddings and everything. I love her but FOUR DRESSES! And of course she picks the most complicated of the appliques. And now I'm feeling bad since I'm not making the boys anything so I am racking my brain trying to come up with something for the boys that won't be too time consuming. So I am kind of thinking either a simple shirt with an applique or the bowling shirt. I don't know. Ughh. I might stop posting my "creations" on facebook I think! It's causing a lot of work!
I hate it when I go over my "image" number! Sorry if I took out your picture or smilie!
I would charge her! That's a lot of work if she really does expect you to make them all! You are too nice!
Usually companies file Chapter 11 and they stay in business, at least for a while. It is an opportunity for them to revamp business practices and hope to get back to normal (like US Airways did, and Circuit City tried but failed after like 60 years in business, started as Wards

)
Circuit City use to be Wards? I didn't know that! I just sent you a PM on the Big Give board.
As seen on my ticker, it's just over 5 months until DD's wedding. I think it's time for me to get serious about sewing. I've been telling myself that I should wait "in case the girls grow" but they won't grow that much!
So, the twins are flower girls and my dd's namesake is her "maiden of honor". All three little girls will be in Disney princess dresses, made of white and ivory brocade. I'll be making Snow White, Aurora, and Cinderella.
so...how do I convince these girls that these really are princess dresses, even though they're not the "right"colors? I thought that at one time there were pictures/
fabric/dolls of the princesses in gold and white. Am I imagining that? If anyone has fabric (even if it's bedding) can you share pictures? Wasn't there a line of "enchanted princesses"? (Am I rambling?

)
That sounds like such a pretty idea!!!
that's IT! Thank you! I just put it as my wallpaper on my desktop. Now they'll be seeing it all the time....that's a start.
I love your brainwashing techniques!!!!!
My girls have backpacks with that picture on it too.
